Was the French revolution justified?
The French Revolution was justified, up till the Reign of Terror.
War is justified when it is required to make change. Displayed in the famous quote “Sometimes good guys gotta do bad things to make the bad guys pay.” With the rule of Louis XIV, came severe inequality in France’s social hierarchy. The divide between the upper and lower class was astronomical. The upper class would feast in their lavish and extravagant palaces, while the lower class struggled to provide food for their families. The bloodshed throughout the revolution, I consider harsh but necessary. “The king must die so the country can live.” A quote by Robespierre explains that so long as a nation’s ruler breathes the republic cannot be, as there will always be a possibility to be overthrown. With the start of the reign of terror came the undeserved massacre of the people. The war was over, and the rise of democracy had arrived. The executions carried out during the Reign of Terror were completely unjust and an atrocity that will forever be remembered in history.
I can analyze evidence to make judgements.
After reviewing the information on the French revolution I was able to create an educated point of view. Throughout this unit, I was able to not only create my own judgement but provide evidence and explain why.
