Technology & Wellbeing Reflection

I manage the stress in my life by, putting all the pent-up emotions into physical exercise. For me, technology can be both an escape and a cause of stress. Constantly comparing myself to those I see on the internet can be massively draining, on the other hand, I use those people as inspiration and motivation to better myself every day. This year I have tried to distance myself from technology as much as possible. Deleting social media, and becoming more aware that technology can be a great escape, but hiding from issues doesn’t do anything. Through the limit, I put on technology I have developed a stronger resolve and have been able to confront issues head-on. Technology can boost your well-being to a certain extent. Having conversations with friends and family, you wouldn’t be able to see. can help, especially during tougher times. It makes you feel like you aren’t alone.

Core Competency Reflection

A) I find it easy to be part of a group.

I believe my inclusive language massively attributes to my easy time connecting with people in my group.

I am naturally, pretty good with guiding/leading the people around me to stay on task.

B) I can explain when something is unfair and advocate for others

I am very headstrong, I am not scared to say something when I feel I’ve been disrespected and the same goes for the people I surround myself with. I can see when something is unjust, and I act upon it.

C) I can identify how my actions affect the community or environment and I can make positive change.

I am a massive advocate for the climate change movement. We only have one earth and we have to protect it. With that being said, whenever I can make a change in my daily life I do it. When I see someone litter, pick it up after them. I believe the little things add up, and we can all make a difference if we just care more.

Students of Ms. Hothi’s English Grade 9 Class, were tasked with creating an infographic of ourselves based off the lesson taught about characterization. With everything I consumed I have made an infographic to reflect oppon myself, how what I look, say, act, and think affect the way people view my personality.

Creating a Positive and Safe Digital Footprint

Throughout the years the internet has expanded exponentially with no signs of slowing down. With the internet being the future, safety is just that more significant. As a child in the digital age, your information is publicly available to everyone. With the growth of the internet, comes unavoidable hazards such as cybercriminals. Any sort of private information leaked on the web will someway come to get you. Whether you have leaked your Ip address and now you’re being ddossed or blackmailed, internet safety is a necessity to continue functioning in this society.

The internet although a source of great knowledge, can at times be extremely dangerous. Some ways you can be exposed while on the web include. Using unsafe/unstable websites and revealing too much personal information to people you do not know. Keeping your information safe/secured on the internet will be a major part of moving forward in the technological world.

With the uprise of the internet, cybercriminals have become that much more determined to steal your private information, thus keeping yourself safe is essential. Everyone should use VPNs to maximize security while surfing the web. Keeping all your social media accounts private is a must as it reveals too much about yourself; location, family, and school. The future is the internet, your security has and will become astronomically more critical as we progress in our technologically driven society.

Personal/Social Competency Reflection

I know that my digital footprint can have both positive and negative consequences such as future employment opportunities and school applications. So I adjust my actions to develop a strong, consistent, and positive digital footprint.

Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include. I can maintain a healthy presence by, limiting my posts to either nothing or something that reveals close to no personal information.

My online support network (ex. Teachers’ TEAMS pages, Tech Leadership Edublog, Career Centre web-site, Library web-site, Centennial school web-site, etc) is helpful to me because they, allow me to navigate around school, finish assignments and catch up on any information I may have missed.
