Persuasion and Advertisement Techniques

Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection

Why is it important to remember who benefits from the advertisement when you view an advertisement?

I think that its important to recognize who benefits from an ad is to realize who you’re supporting and who you’re funding. If you recognize that the brand might have a clever ad with a cool product but the brand that benefits isn’t very good you probably shouldn’t support them.

Choose one form of persuasion and explain why it is effective in persuading you/an audience: logical, ethical, emotional

I think one of the most persuasive techniques you can use for advertisement is have an emotional ad. Emotional ads are effective in persuading an audience because they make the audience feel something. People often don’t remember everything something says. Instead they remember how they felt. If you have an AD with an emotional stake behind people will often feel guilty, sad or happy. They will think back to that Ad and remember how they felt.

Choose an advertising technique and explain why it is effective in selling a product.

Out of all the advertisement techniques I think testimonial is the most effective. I think its the most effective because it makes you question yourself and what you believe in. If it resonates enough, the ad will convince you enough to purchase the item and support the business.

Core Competency Reflection

One strategy or activity that stimulated my imagination on this project was

An activity that sparked my imagination and creativity for this project was the picture taking process for my ad. Seeing the weather wasn’t very nice I decided it was the perfect time to shoot an AD for an outdoor jacket. This then sparked ideas to contribute to my ad to make it more persuasive.

An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is…

I built my ideas off of the FORD ads for trucks. I like the way ford brands themselves as tough which inspired me to make my ad targeted towards tough explorers.

Reflection Questions – Is violence justified during a revolution/protest?

A) How did the AI assist you in developing this project?

AI assisted me in finding good websites that I could use to help further research my subject. It found me articles on all revolutions I listed and gave me an AI opinion on the matter.

B) How did you ensure that the work you created was still your own, rather than just a product of AI?

I made sure not to copy AI word for word and instead only used it to generate ideas. I took what the AI said and used it in my own way.

C) Did you agree with the position you had to argue? Why or why not?

Yes i agreed that violence can be justified. I mention repeatedly in my argument that i believe there should always be an attempt to solve conflict with words. However, if there is a fail to make a change to the state of a country, the people can resort to violence to create that change.

Core Competency Reflection

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include using AI to generate ideas. I also look up reliable articles to gain information.

I use evidence to make judgements or decisions as demonstrated in my audio recording. For example, I talk about violent revolutions that proved to be successful and changed a country for the better. Without the violent French revolution France would have been a crumbling country.
