Persuasion and Advertisement Techniques
Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection
Why is it important to remember who benefits from the advertisement when you view an advertisement?
I think that its important to recognize who benefits from an ad is to realize who you’re supporting and who you’re funding. If you recognize that the brand might have a clever ad with a cool product but the brand that benefits isn’t very good you probably shouldn’t support them.
Choose one form of persuasion and explain why it is effective in persuading you/an audience: logical, ethical, emotional
I think one of the most persuasive techniques you can use for advertisement is have an emotional ad. Emotional ads are effective in persuading an audience because they make the audience feel something. People often don’t remember everything something says. Instead they remember how they felt. If you have an AD with an emotional stake behind people will often feel guilty, sad or happy. They will think back to that Ad and remember how they felt.
Choose an advertising technique and explain why it is effective in selling a product.
Out of all the advertisement techniques I think testimonial is the most effective. I think its the most effective because it makes you question yourself and what you believe in. If it resonates enough, the ad will convince you enough to purchase the item and support the business.
Core Competency Reflection
One strategy or activity that stimulated my imagination on this project was…
An activity that sparked my imagination and creativity for this project was the picture taking process for my ad. Seeing the weather wasn’t very nice I decided it was the perfect time to shoot an AD for an outdoor jacket. This then sparked ideas to contribute to my ad to make it more persuasive.
An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is…
I built my ideas off of the FORD ads for trucks. I like the way ford brands themselves as tough which inspired me to make my ad targeted towards tough explorers.
