My Advertisement:

Persuasion andAdvertising Learning Reflection:
a. Which advertising technique did you choose and how did you use that technique to create your poster?
I had used a version of the “Plain Folk” advertisement method as the person isn’t a plain normal person, however there is a clear message that the clean well fit man in the suit enjoys the cologne and that if you buy the product you will look just like the nice man in the suit.
b. Explain how and why you chose the colours, words, background, etc. that you used to make your advertisement.
I had tried to make the colours in the ad nice comforting and warm just like the cologne’s smell and feel, and overall look, I had also added two different colognes both coming from the same brand just to make it look nicer as well as promoting the type of cologne in general instead of just focusing on the one cologne.
c. What do you think others who aren’t in your class should know about advertising?
I think the best type of advertisements are the ones who connect to their audience well, and that are colourful and stand out the most. As well as the fact that ads are difficult to make and making them look neat is quite difficult and most importantly is to make the ad appeal to your audience.
Core Competency Reflection:
Some skills I have developed to make my creative activities better are I had figured out how to use the AI image generator on Canva to make the man in the suit on my advertisement. I had also used a clear background website to make the cologne bottles blend into the picture which i found really improved the overall look of my ad. I had also never used Canva before this project and so it was quite the learning experience, but thankfully it was quite simplistic and easy to learn.
I used to think that there was nothing difficult about advertisement and now I know that there are many steps about building an advertisement. When I was making my ad I had gone through about 5 different ideas on what I wanted it to look like and I had originally just had a single white background with the name of the cologne in the dead middle. This didn’t work as i thought it was too vague and should add a picture which took a long time to tweak to make it look nice.
