Food Folio

Self Reflection

I had always liked to cook and had spent much time at home before this class just cooking either by myself or with my mom but mainly just with my mom. This class has given me much confidence in feeling comfortable in being alone in the kitchen and feeling like I don’t need supervision while cooking. It was also nice learning about how the food cooks and how it works such as the leavening agent and acid in certain baking dishes. I feel that I could have been faster on certain recipes and not dragged my feet when others around me were finished and cleaning up while our dish was still in the oven or on the stove.

Guitar Core Competency Reflection:

Core Competency Reflection:

I used to think that playing certain guitar styles or techniques was challenging, and now I know it’s possible because I explored more with Barre chords and what sounds different barre chords make. I also used this class to get more comfortable with switching chords and expanding my chord list. Before this semester i had only really playing what i thought was comfortable or “easy” but since I’ve taken this class i know a lot more about music theory and chord theory.

An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about in guitar is mainly power chords as the majority of the songs or bands that I listen to use a lot of power chords. Over time I had gotten extremely comfortable and have gotten to the point where I just experiment in my free time with various power chords and see what sounds good and what I could change. It was nice in knowing that this class had barely covered power chords and focused on other things as I wanted to expand different areas of guitar techniques.

By sharing my knowledge of guitar techniques and helping my peers learn, I not only help the peer learn the technique but also help myself remember the lessons and teach myself in a way. I’ve always loved teaching others things that I feel confident in and have some knowledge in, its great teaching something to someone in guitar as after they learn you can now play with them or learn something with them. You can also share techniques with them while also learning other techniques from them and essentially sharing together what we’ve both learned.

Science 9- Model Home Project

My Project:

(I was only able to take a photo at the beginning of the project.)

Core Competency Reflection:

Some things I think about before dividing tasks among group members include…

If there is a lot of work in a group project and my group members want a job I usually try to think of ways to make the work the most equal and think ahead about all of the stages of the project. I also put into consideration what they want to do and which part they think they would do the best in/like the most. I’m also not just deciding their parts for them, i ask questions as well.

-I remain open minded as I explore viable options or alternative approaches, like when I…

When I was trying to connect their wiring for this project I had very little understanding of what i was doing but then I had decided to ask for help from either my peer tutor or my teacher and even my peers. And just when in thought i had figured it out, i had done the wiring wrong and had to move them which I couldn’t have figured out without the others around me for clarification.

• One strategy or activity that stimulates my imagination is…

I believe the main issue for this entire project for me was that I lacked imagination for the construction process, I was quite confused for most of the project until around the end. To fix this issue I think that i should ask more questions in the beginning and pay attention more when instructions are being given.

ADL Persuasion and Advertising Project

My Advertisement:

Persuasion andAdvertising Learning Reflection:

a. Which advertising technique did you choose and how did you use that technique to create your poster?

I had used a version of the “Plain Folk” advertisement method as the person isn’t a plain normal person, however there is a clear message that the clean well fit man in the suit enjoys the cologne and that if you buy the product you will look just like the nice man in the suit.

b. Explain how and why you chose the colours, words, background, etc. that you used to make your advertisement.

I had tried to make the colours in the ad nice comforting and warm just like the cologne’s smell and feel, and overall look, I had also added two different colognes both coming from the same brand just to make it look nicer as well as promoting the type of cologne in general instead of just focusing on the one cologne.

c. What do you think others who aren’t in your class should know about advertising?

I think the best type of advertisements are the ones who connect to their audience well, and that are colourful and stand out the most. As well as the fact that ads are difficult to make and making them look neat is quite difficult and most importantly is to make the ad appeal to your audience.

Core Competency Reflection:

Some skills I have developed to make my creative activities better are I had figured out how to use the AI image generator on Canva to make the man in the suit on my advertisement. I had also used a clear background website to make the cologne bottles blend into the picture which i found really improved the overall look of my ad. I had also never used Canva before this project and so it was quite the learning experience, but thankfully it was quite simplistic and easy to learn.

I used to think that there was nothing difficult about advertisement and now I know that there are many steps about building an advertisement. When I was making my ad I had gone through about 5 different ideas on what I wanted it to look like and I had originally just had a single white background with the name of the cologne in the dead middle. This didn’t work as i thought it was too vague and should add a picture which took a long time to tweak to make it look nice.

Is Violence Justified During a Revolution?

A) How did the use of AI assist you in developing this project?`

Me and my partner had used the AI called Copilot, and had thought it was quite helpful in helping us gather information and examples to build our arguments and had given us answers that were very easy to understand and follow. It was also helpful in giving us links to the websites it had used so that we could site them.

B) How did you ensure that the work was still your own, rather than just a product of the AI?

Firstly, we had asked the AI the questions and read it then we would go to the website where it got the information and we would observe the website and put in our own words what it was trying to say. We had then cited the websites and had done our best to not copy the information and turned it into our own words.

C) Did you agree with the position you had to argue? Why or why not?

I Partially agree with each argument as in some situations revolutions need violence but in others it’s better to do things with peaceful methods. I think i like Nelson Mandela’s method of protest in which he initially tried peaceful protests but when they were ineffective he had switched to violent ways. However there are many people who had successfully protested peacefully such as Martin Luther King Jr. or Rosa Parks or Gandhi.

Core Competency Reflection

1.One of the ways i ensure that my group is clear on the common purpose is to…

Go over their work and work with them together to help them understand better and make things more clear.

2.When i need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I…

Try to get to known them better and try to be friends with them and not judge them by the way they do their work and help them as much as i can.
