My first experience in high school was very calm and relaxed which was nice as I expected things to be much worse and stressful as I had heard. I couldn’t have had such a good semester if I hadn’t been with all of the welcoming teachers that were very patient to let us adjust to high school life and the expectations. I also love having the chance to buy my lunch from the cafeteria if I forget my lunch at home and it always having good food and different options every day. I am also grateful for all of the people I was able to meet and become friends with and was glad to have a lot in common with them being in the same classes.
One of my favourite dishes from the Cafeteria, (Pork Schnitzel with cabbage and potato)
One strategy or activity that stimulates my imagination is to look outside and imagine the things I’m trying to add to a story in my head and imagine how they would effect the real life environment such as the trees. For example when I used a polar bear in my diorama project for the “The Veldt” story I had imagined how the polar bear would walk to the lake from the forest and imagined how it would walk and created a mini other story in my head.
Some skills I have developed to make my creative activities is to read over the story that I’ve written and imagine that it’s the first time I’m reading it and see if it makes sense. I also get someone else to read over my work to make sure it makes sense if I’m not sure myself.
If i only had a budget of $100 I would definitely find different things to buy like less expensive perfume for my mom that only costs about $20-$30, I would also try to find a cheaper breakfast option than $110 for the both of us.
If I had a budget of $500 i would have bought a much more expensive dinner than IKEA, maybe a fancy restaurant, i would also get a top shelf perfume or make up set instead of a sample set.
Personal/Social Core Competencies:
I can tell what is important to me and I can explain my values. I understand how my values shape my choices.
I chose my mom for the special day as I know she likes to do a lot of shopping and she was the first person I thought of when to do this project. I also believe that my mom does a lot for me and deserves to be celebrated for at least a day.
I decide to firstly make my budget based on what my mom likes to like shopping and eat ice cream, then I just thought of ways to do those activities with her while also being cost effective enough so that i was still inside of my budget.
I believe this was year was a great introduction to my high school experience and i got to explore a lot of things of what i like to do. I think my first semester was my favourite semester as i had already a lot of my friends from middle school but i still got the chance to make many new friends that then got carried over into my second semester classes. This doesn’t mean that my second semester is fun its just started and I’ll have more fun down the road. I think one of the hardest classes i had this year was science class, but i still got to learn lots and passed the class. My easiest class would have to be guitar class this semester, besides P.E. In guitar, I get to just play a guitar and learn about different bands and listen to music.
This website helped me plenty of times especially in Social Studies, when researching about a unit and wanting to know specific details this helped a lot. I also liked the amount of images that they use in their pages and they give you a timeline as well. It also has a easy to understand catalog to tell what unit your in on the left side of the website.
A Useful Educational Website:
This Video was used during the beginning of my cooking class when we were preparing to make oatmeal cookies. I thought of this video as it was very informative and I’ve never really thought about the science behind the baking of cookies until this video. My favourite part was learning about what temperature is needed for the baking to do different things such as caramelization occurs at 356 degrees.
A Useful Educational Image:
This image was shown to me In Social Studies, when we were studying the French Revolution. It was a picture of the Bastille (a french prison) and i still remember loving this picture. I think i like it because of its level of detail showing the French peasants surrounding the prison and watching them get increasingly angrier with their rifles and cannons.
A Useful Educational Quote:
”I have no special talent, I am only passionately curios” -Albert Einstein
I like this quote and how it relates to me by if you want to do something your good at you don’t have talent, you just like doing it a lot. This relates to me playing the guitar, i was terrible at playing and didn’t know and notes, but i just wanted to learn an instrument really badly and so gradually, i got better.
I found Japanese Spider-Man to be a quite amusing character in the ways he moves and and just the way his overall character acts. I thought it was interesting about the Japanese show changing the story to include robots to appeal to their Japanese audience more which I thought was a cool idea. There were many moments i found amusing but there were lots of times where i was confused on what was going on and what was going to happen next. I would absolutely recommend this show to other people if they just want to watch a silly superhero show that makes them laugh. Just like every future generation, they will think that our shows are just as outdated as Supaidaman and look back and laugh at what we thought was entertaining.
The few things that I noticed about school in Japan compared to Canada is that there are many more responsibilities expected of the students compared to Canada. I had also thought is was strange that all of the schools have the same kind of build and that all of them had looked the same on the inside. The way the kids have to prepare their own food for lunch I found quite amusing. I personally like the way our school does things and the less responsibilities that we have. I don’t think that it would be a good idea to make our own lunch or clean our classrooms because that would put someone out of a job even if the job wasn’t that good. It would also put less stress on the students so that they could focus on their work more and after school clubs/sports. I thought it was funny that the school kids play じゃんけん to get extra food after lunch as well. Since that じゃんけん Is a probability game and that you can’t really be “good at it” i might get food once in a while but not very often.
A) How did the use of AI assist you in developing this project?`
Me and my partner had used the AI called Copilot, and had thought it was quite helpful in helping us gather information and examples to build our arguments and had given us answers that were very easy to understand and follow. It was also helpful in giving us links to the websites it had used so that we could site them.
B) How did you ensure that the work was still your own, rather than just a product of the AI?
Firstly, we had asked the AI the questions and read it then we would go to the website where it got the information and we would observe the website and put in our own words what it was trying to say. We had then cited the websites and had done our best to not copy the information and turned it into our own words.
C) Did you agree with the position you had to argue? Why or why not?
I Partially agree with each argument as in some situations revolutions need violence but in others it’s better to do things with peaceful methods. I think i like Nelson Mandela’s method of protest in which he initially tried peaceful protests but when they were ineffective he had switched to violent ways. However there are many people who had successfully protested peacefully such as Martin Luther King Jr. or Rosa Parks or Gandhi.
Core Competency Reflection
1.One of the ways i ensure that my group is clear on the common purpose is to…
Go over their work and work with them together to help them understand better and make things more clear.
2.When i need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I…
Try to get to known them better and try to be friends with them and not judge them by the way they do their work and help them as much as i can.
I picked the Yokai called Arie as I liked its simple name its strange and mysterious look.
2. Name some characteristics and provide a background history/summery of your Yokai.
Arie has a very strange looking body with its long neck sticking out of its large round body with its four legs and its long slim tail. There has only been one sighting of Arie and it was on June 17th, 1876 where it had delivered a message of a great harvest and then there would be lots of disease and then told everyone to copy an image of Arie before he would disappear into the sea.
3. Do you think Japanese Yokai differ from western monsters and mythical creatures? Explain.
I think the overall message of Yokai are the same as “Fairy Tales” in North America and Europe of never go swimming out during the night or you will be killed by a monster and telling these story’s to kids. However there are many strange ones that don’t really contain a message such as Arie.
4. Do you Believe in Yokai, monster, ghosts, or any mythical creatures? Why or Why not?
I don’t personally believe in any mythical creatures or ghosts but I most defiantly would have back when I was much younger. I don’t know why i don’t believe in that stuff, but I guess its just hard for me to believe in.

Personal/Social Competency Reflexion
One way the youth can be positive online is by setting up their privacy settings to make sure they don’t make any negative posts by accident and make them public. Another way you can continue to be a good person online is to always think about your future employer and make sure you don’t say anything offensive online so that they don’t find it and decide not to hire you.
More people online everyday keep forgetting that anything you put onto the internet is permanent, regardless if you deleted it. It’s not only your future bosses that you need to worry about but it’s also your friends and family that might come across your posts and they could think differently about you.
Another issue about posting on social media is if you get frustrated at someone or you get really emotional and you let your anger get the best of you and need to speak out online and maybe say something you really shouldn’t have said but its too late and you now forever have that one thing you said on the internet. Digital footprint, less known as digital shadow is anything you do on the internet, that could be visiting a website, writing an email, posting a video or comment online.
There are many harmful things on the internets as well, there are a many bad people that might say some very negative things about you either publicly or privately that can hurt you if you engage with them. If you are experiencing this sort of bullying you should just hit the block button or report them on the platform you are both using, or if it is very serious you should collect evidence and contact the police.
There are many bad things about being online but there can also be a few benefits to going onto social media such as connecting with friends and learning many new things. You may also discover new things that you enjoy that you didn’t know you enjoyed like a tv show or a genre of music, You can also learn a new hobby such as guitar or learning a new language.
My Word Art Image:
Prompts:
I know that my Digital Footprint can have both positive and negative consequences, including… so i adjust my actions to…
I am very aware of how if anything that goes onto the internet stays on the internet, some of those things can be good such as helpful information or a funny video or a catchy song. However there are many bad things that can happen to you if you post something bad on the internet, such as something offensive or something inappropriate which can be traced back to you and for other people find out about what you said. This is why I rarely post anything online if anything at all and its also because I don’t the reason to post something or i just don’t want to.
Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include…
I don’t post anything publicly online as i don’t feel the need to and only talk to my friends online if i ever say anything. I also try to avoid any negative posts on the internet, if I come across anything offensive or inappropriate i just either block the person or just scroll past it and ignore it.
My online support network (ex. Teachers’ TEAMS pages, Tech Leadership Edublog, Career Centre web-site, Library web-site, Centennial school web-site, etc) is helpful to me because they…
This year is very different from last year in the sense that we have all of these websites to help us get our work done and become more organized. I love this new change as last year we only had teams and my teachers would rarely post on there, let alone a daily update, I also love the idea behind the website for flex block and we get to book what class we need help in. All of these websites have really helped me and I love that the teacher constantly keep us updated.
