Guitar Core Competency Reflection:

Core Competency Reflection:

I used to think that playing certain guitar styles or techniques was challenging, and now I know it’s possible because I explored more with Barre chords and what sounds different barre chords make. I also used this class to get more comfortable with switching chords and expanding my chord list. Before this semester i had only really playing what i thought was comfortable or “easy” but since I’ve taken this class i know a lot more about music theory and chord theory.

An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about in guitar is mainly power chords as the majority of the songs or bands that I listen to use a lot of power chords. Over time I had gotten extremely comfortable and have gotten to the point where I just experiment in my free time with various power chords and see what sounds good and what I could change. It was nice in knowing that this class had barely covered power chords and focused on other things as I wanted to expand different areas of guitar techniques.

By sharing my knowledge of guitar techniques and helping my peers learn, I not only help the peer learn the technique but also help myself remember the lessons and teach myself in a way. I’ve always loved teaching others things that I feel confident in and have some knowledge in, its great teaching something to someone in guitar as after they learn you can now play with them or learn something with them. You can also share techniques with them while also learning other techniques from them and essentially sharing together what we’ve both learned.
