Komagata- I am very proud of my Komagata Maru project. I really enjoyed researching and educating myself on this event. I demonstrated on my final project the causes and consequence of this event. In the project I showed examples and evidence in news articles and video conferences with the government of British columbia and Indian people. I provided perspective opinions on both sides. I really enjoyed learning about the Komagata and will forever educate others around me about this major life event.
The core competence that I think I demonstrated well was, creative thinking. I used evidence showing facts and information from the actual time of the Komagata Maru incident. I put myself in both scenarios, being a passenger on the ship and also being in the BC government. I strongly side with the 376 passengers that suffered due to racism and neglect from our government. After reading stories and listening to news reports about this tragic life event. It made it very clear for me how disrespectful the BC government at that time was. It makes me sad to know that people tried to come here for a better future and help and they shut the door on them. I hope a situation like this never happens during my lifetime. I will continue to provide knowledge and information to others about acceptance of all cultures and races. I would like to see a movement where this change is in effect.
