Persuasion and Advertising Unit Reflection

I learned that the brand benefits from advertising its items. For example if Bape advertises bapestas buyers are going on the website and will see something else they might like. Advertisement can make people not just to buy one specific item, buy make them buy a second or third item and that benefits the company.

The who is important because you want to make your advertisement suitable for the group of viewers that will ultimately also be the buyers or your product. I doesn’t make sense to advertise the wrong product to the wrong group of potential buyers.

You also want your buyers to feel that you know what you are talking about. It is important that the product and the quality of the product is correctly represented by the person who is being hired for the advertisement.

The advertisement should also be ethical so that viewers know that they can relate to the product and others feel the same about it.

Making an advertisement emotional gets viewers to connect on a different level and makes them think that the purchases can mean something.

I think that the bandwagon technique is a great way of advertising a product by using an emotional approach. Using the desire of people to belong to the “in group” or making them feel that they might miss out if they don’t buy the product is a very effective way of marketing.

Another good approach is to use emotional words, which makes people feel something when they read/see your advertisement.

I also like repetition as it makes the product stick in the viewers head for longer.

I learned about advertisement, that it is important to address it to the right group of viewers and also what kind of techniques can be used to make people want to buy your product and how to intrigue viewers.

Core Competency Reflection

  1. This is how I choose my images and words to impact my audience.
I choose photos that I took when I went into the store and I didn’t just show one pair of shoes I decided to show multiple ones. This makes the viewer to look at the post for longer to see if they see anything they like. It also makes it more likely that they have a look at the website to see if they have even more than what was in the picture.
  2. What stimulated my imagination was making a slogan for this brand. When I was thinking about the right slogan I thought about an emotional strategy that uses the bandwagon technique.
  3. Example of where I communicated clearly was when I wrote that “life is too short to have bad shoes”. This message gets straight to the point and is easy for others to read.
