My Reflections

This semester, I completed a unit project with the help of “My Blueprint,” researching three potential careers to explore various paths for my future. The project helped me understand diverse career choices and assess my interests. It made me think about aligning my career choices with personal interests and values, considering the long-term impact on satisfaction and success. During the research, I discovered a strong interest in careers in the medical field.

The part of the project that made me consider this was analyzing the specific skill sets required for each career option, especially in the medical field. For example, when exploring healthcare professions, I realized my passion for helping people and contributing to healthcare. This realization prompted me to contemplate pursuing a path in the medical field, emphasizing the key evidence that supported my decision-making process.

In 2024, understanding the connection between personal attributes and career choices, especially in healthcare, is crucial. The evolving job market requires informed decisions aligning with unique skill sets and interests. This project encouraged me to think critically about my future in the current professional landscape, where adaptability and a thoughtful approach to career planning are crucial, particularly in the medical field. The insights gained from this project are significant for navigating the complex world of career choices in 2024 and beyond.

While completing my career exploration project, I utilized evidence from various sources to make informed decisions about potential career paths. I thoroughly researched each option, considering factors such as job outlook, required skills, and personal interests. This evidence based approach allowed me to make reasoned judgments about which careers align best with my goals and values.
  2. I can examine and evaluate to improve my own work; evidence of that is… In the resume building workshop, I actively examined and evaluated my own work to enhance its quality. After receiving feedback from peers and my teacher, I revisited my resume, identified areas for improvement, and made necessary adjustments. This process not only improved the final product, but also enhanced my ability to critically evaluate my own work for continuous improvement.
  3. I remain open-minded as I explore viable options or alternative approaches, like when.. I stayed open-minded while looking at different options during my 1 on 1 interview assignment. I listened to my teacher’s suggestions, even if they were different from what I first thought. Instead of sticking to my own ideas, I was open to considering different ways of thinking. This open-minded approach made our conversation better and helped me think about new possibilities in planning my career that I hadn’t thought about before.

Reflecting on My First Year

My Grade 9 Year

This year I have learned a lot from learning to stay focused to making sure to seek help if needed before its too late. Grade 9 has opened up many experiences such as being able to learn subjects I chose to as well as making new friendships and playing on sports teams that I am passionate about. Overall, my grade 9 year has opened up a new view in my life which is to stay focused and on task in order to succeed.

I chose this because music helps me concentrate in class and when doing homework. It helps me focus on my work and clears my head from the distractions that may be happening in class as well as completing my work.

I decided to choose this video because in science we created our own stop-motion videos in groups about meiosis. For inspiration on how we would create ours, we watched this video as a class to help give ourselves an understanding of what is to be created.

Before starting this project we learned about all the elements and how to find their atomic number, mass and charges. This knowledge helped me display what I already knew in the assignment and lead me to success. While completing this assignment I also made sure to look back at my table to ensure my information was correct. Overall, this assignment helped me understand the different elements and their features.

I can use my imagination to get new ideas of my own, or build on other’s ideas, or combine other people’s ideas in new ways:

I demonstrated this when working with my group members to create a mutation. We each came up with different ideas and after discussing them all we came to the agreement of combing all of our ideas together. We also came up with different drawings on how we each interpreted the mutation to look like and build upon all of those ideas to come up with our final result.

I get ideas that are new to my peers:

While coming up with ideas I made sure to see what my group members were making so that i could make something unique and that hasn’t been generated yet. This helped our group have a variety of different ideas to choose from.

I can explain why I make specific choice:

When our group was presenting our project to the class, I was able to discuss why we chose the animal and its purposes, as well as how it benefits the Capitol. This was done by all 3 group members to ensure we could all share our personal views on the mutation.

I talk and listen to the people I know. I can communicate for a purpose:

In my group we all gave everyone a say and would respect their decisions. If a disagreement happened, we would all build up ways on how to better the idea.

Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection

Why is it important to remember who benefits from the advertisement when you view an advertisement?

It is important to remember who benefits from the advertisements because you should know who/what you are supporting. For example, if you are buying from a company who is known for negative aspects such as animal testing or non inclusivity you wouldn’t want to be helping that business grow.

· Choose one form of persuasion and explain why it is effective in persuading you/an audience: logical, ethical, emotional on an audience

Emotional: Emotional persuasion is effective because the dramatic effects will appear much more on the consumer. This is because bolder colours, fonts and dramatic effects are more visible than a plain background with words. Guilt also plays a factor because people may feel guilty or upset if they don’t purchase the product or even donate to them.

· Choose an advertising technique and explain why it is effective in selling a product.

Eye appeal: The eye appeal technique is effective in the ways of catching the consumers attention. When you make your advertisements look more professional or organized you are more likely to attract more customers as it may come off as a “trusted” source or a legit company. By also making the ad appealing to corresponding the product you advertise you are more likely to attract the consumers who are interested in that product.

This is how I selected images and words to create impact for my planned audience:

To choose my images, I chose a color that makes the product pop out. I also made sure the picture in the background corresponded with what the product is/does. Because the product I advertised was a water bottle, I chose a background of a gym. This is because it’s the location where the product could be used. The words I chose were to convince the audience to buy the product because many athletes nationwide have purchase the product.

One strategy or activity that stimulated my imagination on this project was

I personally love playing sports and being active so when thinking about what product would help benefit those in the hunger games as it does for me, I thought a bottle. as simple as this product may seem, it still has a great impact on performance and stability. This is because hydration is super important and this bottle is a great source for it especially as it is easy to transport around in the arena.

I had to adjust my ad many times because of details such as the background, fonts and sizing. This is because I wanted to make sure the ad was appealing to the eye and gave a brief meaning on how the product benefits the consumer. I also tried to choose a background that well represented my product. This step took quite long as I also wanted it to not take away the attention from the product.

Personal responsibility

I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself.

After completing this schedule it gave me a viewpoint of how I was able to evaluate how the work I put in personally reflects on to me. In this case, I was proud of my ability to describe not only my subjects but also my teachers by only knowing them throughout a small period of time.

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way.

I represented this in my mi horarrio project when I had to apply my knowledge of what I do in each class in my schedule onto a booklet in my own creative way as this assignment was open to any ideas that personally suited me and my interests/creative ways.

I inquire into and present on topics of interest and topics related to my studies.

During this assignment, I made sure to think about the key points/things that make the subjects how I persuade them. For example, when thinking about foods, I don’t only think about the cooking aspect, but rather the experience and skill building that comes along with it. The images I chose for each subject give a brief idea of what the subject is and what is partaken in the subject as well.

Goals:

I can ask open-ended questions to gather information.

Moving forward I hope to be able to build up my ability to ask more questions to generate both ideas and information that may help me in projects or assignments. By doing this I hope for it to benefit myself by being able to take feedback from any questions I ask and further better myself by working on what needs to be improved.
