BCFP 12

My time in First Peoples 12 was very engaging because I got to use my main skills a lot. During the whole semester, I did different assignments that made me explain what I learned from each chapter. Like when I wrote in my journal, I shared what I thought about the different things we learned. each of us talked about own our perspectives on First Nations stories and many others things to do with how the First Nations lived and all about their culture, and when we had to think about questions, it made me really get into my thoughts and get better at sharing them. Thinking was another big thing I worked on. I had to figure out where to find info on different things we learned in the textbook. The best part was when we did group work. We had to answer questions together and then tell the class our perspective on what we’ve learned so we could all learn more as a whole. another big skill was about being a kind and respectful person in class. I made sure I would help students if the teacher wasn’t available to answer. We all got a chance to talk in class during our talking circles and show our work, so no one felt left out. That’s important because if you feel left out, you might not fully understand what’s going on so it’s best for the whole class to be engaged and listen. Lastly this course has really changed my perspective on indigenous people and the struggles and hard ship they have faced during residential school etc. I have really opened up my mind to allow me to learn the way of other cultures and challenges they have faced. I also really enjoyed the indigenous speakers telling stories and talking about their life to the class being able to learn in this way is very lucky.
