One of Us Is Lying: The Movie

My Movie

Plot, Character, Setting, and Mood

Explain how you figured out what your Avatar would look like.

In the novel “One of Us Is Lying” by Karen M. McManus, the author clearly describes the characters’ skin color, hair color, eye color, and any distinctive features like freckles or piercings. This description gives the reader an understanding of what the character looks like, which helps when creating a mental image to make the avatars.

How did you choose the plot points?

I choose to include important elements and events to summarize the main plots in the novel and how each character played a role in the murder mystery story. I focused on highlighting important information and events while incorporating backstories and hidden details to create a full understanding of the story line for my audience.

Explain how you figured out the setting in your story. What information led you to choose the pictures you picked for your plot points?

The settings in the novel were revealed by shared information about the time, place, and environment in which the events took place in. The main setting was Bayview High School; however, events also took place at the characters’ houses.

I choose the visual elements and images that summarized the text or was a highlighted part of the information on that slide. I included some images from the adapted show series “One of Us Is Lying” with photos of the actors to show how the characters I described were translated into real examples.

Explain what the word mood means and how/why you picked the song that you picked?

The word mood is defined as a temporary state of mind or feeling. I choose a song from bensound to enhance my movie by adding an element of sound. The song matched the theme of the murder mystery novel as it had a dark rhythm and beat.

Core Competency Reflection

I appreciate feedback on mistakes and confusion in my work, and prefer it comes in the form of a message or email addressing the specific concerns and possible strategies to fix it.

An example of an idea I developed that was new to my peers is the inclusion of descriptions of several characters. The story switched perspective between four main characters throughout the novel, so I wrote about all of them in order for my explanations and information to make sense.

When I need to boost my mood or refocus, I take a quick break in order to restore my energy and find strategies on how to effectively complete my assignment.
