Titration Lab

A titration is an experiment, or a technique, of using one solution (which we have the concentration of) in order to find out the concentration of another solution. In this lab, the titration was used to find the molarity of hydrochloric acid by using sodium hydroxide which had a concentration of 0.100M. The end point of the titration is when your indicator changes color so that you know you have added enough base to complete the reaction. For this experiment, the solution had to be light pink for a minimum of 30 seconds. The lighter the pink, the better. My results stated that I needed an average of 14.3ml of base in order to achieve the reaction.

Core Competency Reflection

For this lab, I had to collaborate with my peers in order to get the results I needed. This is because working with a partner helps you setup, and manage everything more easily. I can work with others to achieve a goal by making sure that we are all on task and to make sure that everyone has a role and a voice that is heard. For this lab, my partner and I had to get multiple trials on the first day since I was going to be away for the following day. We had to be efficient with our time and we had to ensure no mistakes happened so I could get the information that I needed. For next time, I would say that we should improve on our handling skills, we could’ve been a little more efficient and careful.
