Throughout my time practicing the scene I continued to build my communication with my scene partner and I also learned how to step outside my comfort zone consistently.
Physics Unit Core Competency Reflection
the first image is a photo of our bean bag drop test and the second image is of our frisbee test.
Reflection
My role in this lab was to record the data we collected on the sheet. I was more of a leader throughout this because I guided my group members within their own focus areas and we worked very well as a team. The core competency I demonstrated through this was communication because both me and my partners communicated comfortably with each other. On top of that, we collaborated nicely by all working together even though we were working on different things within that one lab, such as one person timing, and the other dropping a beanbag or throwing a ball. One thing I can improve on is my creative thinking skills. This is because we didn’t really build off each other when working on the actual sheet to hand in. I can improve this by making specific tasks for a person to complete so we all get an equal amount of work.
CPR Reflection

What was something you learned that you didn’t know or consider before?
That CPR was very physically demanding and you actually have to push down deep and fast.
What is a key takeaway from the Theory or Practical CPR unit?
A key takeaway I have from the CPR unit was that I need to react fast and take control.
How does this unit connect to the nutrition unit learned previously?
It ties into the risk factor. One of the risk factors of heart disease is high cholesterol levels. This can be prevented/helped by maintaining a healthy diet.
Core Competency Reflection
Examples of where I communicated clearly and purposefully can be seen when we practiced on the CPR dummy’s. Me and my group made real life scenarios and acted them out for a better understanding of how real life situations would feel like.
One area of CPR in which I’d like to spend more time learning is how to help someone who is choking. We didn’t go in depth into this but someone having an obstructed airway is more common and is just as deadly.
One lesson that stimulated my thinking about the importance of CPR was the risk factor lesson. This is because its very eye opening to see just how easy it is to have a heart attack or fall unconscious, and how important it is to learn these skills so you could save a life.
Social Studies Reflection

When completing my Inquiry Project, I gained a better understanding of the motivations behind human betrayal. Exploring historical, literary, and psychological perspectives showed that betrayal is often based in vulnerability, ambition, or a need for self-preservation. This process taught me to think critically about how trust is both built and broken, as well as the consequences of such actions. It was also an opportunity to my work on my ability to connect abstract ideas with concrete examples, making my analysis more impactful. Overall, this project challenged me to view betrayal not as a simple act, but as a reflection of humanity’s inner struggles and desires.
I can examine and evaluate to improve my own work; evidence of that is during my inquiry project I looked over my work time and time again, constantly finding new ways to make it better until I was happy with it.
I gather and synthesize information to develop logical conclusions, such as when I was doing my research for my project and I gathered my information and came to a conclusion on the reasons behind betreyal.
I look for, develop and weigh different perspectives and pieces of evidence, as demonstrated by looking through different perspectives in history to find the true reasoning why people do what they do.
Career Project
My Career Life Presentation
Curricular Reflection
some of my career life goals are to graduate high school and go to UBC. I would like to pursue PhD in psychology and have as much experience and knowledge under my belt as possible. my goal overall is to make sure people struggling with mental health know that help is available, to make it widely accessible across everyone.
Core Competency Reflection
- “I can reflect on my thinking” throughout the duration of this project, I had to reflect on my own thinking frequently so I could better learn the information I was taking in. I can relate new knowledge to what I already knew, and apply it in new situations.
- “I work to inform myself about issues surrounding me” since this was a presentation about psychology, I had to look at statistics and better inform myself about the issues in peoples lives, and how people with the career I want to pursue would deal with these problems.
- “Imagine and work towards change in myself and in the world” I really wanted to choose a career that would truly make a change in peoples lives and helping people work through their mental health troubles would make me feel fulfilled.
- “I can tell what is important to me and I can explain my values” I get asked a lot about why I want to become a psychologist and if I would get tired hearing about peoples problems all day long. my answer is always the same, “healing people heals me.” I know that different people have different viewpoints and values, but when asked, I can always provide an answer.
one goal I have for myself going forward is to dive deeper then I already have into the causes and results of certain metal health issues so I know how to help the people around me who are struggling. my goal is to be that person people can go to, to make help attainable for everyone.
one statement I want to work towards is “I work to inform myself about the issues surrounding me.” our world is everchanging, constantly developing as we discover new things so I would like to be more informed about new psychological advancements and help being provided.
Spanish 10 Core Competency

this family project demonstrates the personal/social core competency because it shares part of my identity through my family and my home.
my “I can” statements:
I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself
I can make choices that keep me safe in my community and online, such as not putting my family and face on this site.
I can persevere with challenging tasks and take ownership of my goals, learning and behavior.
Math Core Competency

for my artifact, I chose our most recent quiz.
“I can work with others to achieve a goal”
when I don’t understand something, I can work with the people around me and we can all collaborate and help each other to understand the topic. this goes together with communication core competency because I communicate well when I realize I need help.
“If the group is not productive, we can …. in order to get things moving in the right direction.”
we can try our best to refocus the group on the task at hand, all helping each other to get back on track.
“I can reflect on my thinking”
I do this by taking notes consistently and when I have a test, I look over those notes and it helps me reflect quite literally on my own thinking by seeing it from a perspective I had even just a week prior.
math 9 foundations self assessment
a)
I feel like I’ve progressed very much throughout the semester especially because I had to go back and re learn some of the earlier topics so I can understand them for the final.
b)
the personal goal I set for myself is to study productivity and I reached this goal by learning how not to get distracted
c)
I feel like I have improved with polynomials and Pythagorean theorem the most this semester because before I wasn’t the best at it but now it’s my favorite thing to do in math.
Favorite Recipe
Focaccia Bread

Making And Sharing Reflection
MAKING:
for this recipe, we had to watch a educational video which would give us tips and tricks for making our focaccia bread, so my group added this into our process of making it. since we used yeast in this recipe, we had to let it sit and also when we were mixing the bread we had to be careful and use the right techniques.
SHARING:
this recipe was shared between my partner and I because the two other people in our table group were away and it was so fluffy, crispy and tasty; there’s a reason why it’s my favorite recipe. we worked well in a partnership and also equally split the roles.
Core Competency Reflection
One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to clearly communicate when the teacher gives us time to. another way I ensure this is double checking before we begin, and asking during the lab.
If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to find common ground. this is shown when sometimes we have a recipe that has “optional” ingredients so if someone in the group doesn’t like that then we do the following: since we got to choose the spices we add on top of the focaccia bread then we find the ones we BOTH like, and add those on top.
I show that I value feedback from others in my group by listening to their opinions on the recipe and if we make something along the lines of that again, I put their feedback into the recipe to make it better.
When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I will try and get to know them. I do this so communicating with them during our labs would be less awkward and more fun.
My Goal Going Forward
If the group is not productive, we can …. in order to get things moving in the right direction. sometimes, if I’m put into a group of people I love and enjoy being around, it will be the best group but then that group has the tendency to be off task. my goal would be to stay on task at all times.
Textiles Core Competency Self Assessment
the project I’m most proud of this time around is both of my embroidery projects. these projects highlighted my thinking core competency because this was the first time I’ve ever done something like this before and I needed to plan it out. during this project, I built upon other peoples ideas because all my inspiration came form other peoples pictures on Pinterest. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of independently making this project and I would definitely do it again.
