Throughout my time practicing the scene I continued to build my communication with my scene partner and I also learned how to step outside my comfort zone consistently.

Social Studies Reflection

When completing my Inquiry Project, I gained a better understanding of the motivations behind human betrayal. Exploring historical, literary, and psychological perspectives showed that betrayal is often based in vulnerability, ambition, or a need for self-preservation. This process taught me to think critically about how trust is both built and broken, as well as the consequences of such actions. It was also an opportunity to my work on my ability to connect abstract ideas with concrete examples, making my analysis more impactful. Overall, this project challenged me to view betrayal not as a simple act, but as a reflection of humanity’s inner struggles and desires.
I can examine and evaluate to improve my own work; evidence of that is during my inquiry project I looked over my work time and time again, constantly finding new ways to make it better until I was happy with it.
I gather and synthesize information to develop logical conclusions, such as when I was doing my research for my project and I gathered my information and came to a conclusion on the reasons behind betreyal.
I look for, develop and weigh different perspectives and pieces of evidence, as demonstrated by looking through different perspectives in history to find the true reasoning why people do what they do.
Spanish 10 Core Competency

this family project demonstrates the personal/social core competency because it shares part of my identity through my family and my home.
my “I can” statements:
I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself
I can make choices that keep me safe in my community and online, such as not putting my family and face on this site.
I can persevere with challenging tasks and take ownership of my goals, learning and behavior.
Math Core Competency

for my artifact, I chose our most recent quiz.
“I can work with others to achieve a goal”
when I don’t understand something, I can work with the people around me and we can all collaborate and help each other to understand the topic. this goes together with communication core competency because I communicate well when I realize I need help.
“If the group is not productive, we can …. in order to get things moving in the right direction.”
we can try our best to refocus the group on the task at hand, all helping each other to get back on track.
“I can reflect on my thinking”
I do this by taking notes consistently and when I have a test, I look over those notes and it helps me reflect quite literally on my own thinking by seeing it from a perspective I had even just a week prior.
math 9 foundations self assessment
a)
I feel like I’ve progressed very much throughout the semester especially because I had to go back and re learn some of the earlier topics so I can understand them for the final.
b)
the personal goal I set for myself is to study productivity and I reached this goal by learning how not to get distracted
c)
I feel like I have improved with polynomials and Pythagorean theorem the most this semester because before I wasn’t the best at it but now it’s my favorite thing to do in math.
Favorite Recipe
Focaccia Bread

Making And Sharing Reflection
MAKING:
for this recipe, we had to watch a educational video which would give us tips and tricks for making our focaccia bread, so my group added this into our process of making it. since we used yeast in this recipe, we had to let it sit and also when we were mixing the bread we had to be careful and use the right techniques.
SHARING:
this recipe was shared between my partner and I because the two other people in our table group were away and it was so fluffy, crispy and tasty; there’s a reason why it’s my favorite recipe. we worked well in a partnership and also equally split the roles.
Core Competency Reflection
One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to clearly communicate when the teacher gives us time to. another way I ensure this is double checking before we begin, and asking during the lab.
If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to find common ground. this is shown when sometimes we have a recipe that has “optional” ingredients so if someone in the group doesn’t like that then we do the following: since we got to choose the spices we add on top of the focaccia bread then we find the ones we BOTH like, and add those on top.
I show that I value feedback from others in my group by listening to their opinions on the recipe and if we make something along the lines of that again, I put their feedback into the recipe to make it better.
When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I will try and get to know them. I do this so communicating with them during our labs would be less awkward and more fun.
My Goal Going Forward
If the group is not productive, we can …. in order to get things moving in the right direction. sometimes, if I’m put into a group of people I love and enjoy being around, it will be the best group but then that group has the tendency to be off task. my goal would be to stay on task at all times.
Textiles Core Competency Self Assessment
the project I’m most proud of this time around is both of my embroidery projects. these projects highlighted my thinking core competency because this was the first time I’ve ever done something like this before and I needed to plan it out. during this project, I built upon other peoples ideas because all my inspiration came form other peoples pictures on Pinterest. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of independently making this project and I would definitely do it again.

My First Year
My Grade 9 Year
this year, being my first year in high-school, was scary at first but by making friends in each class I got myself comfortable and I enjoyed going to school everyday. since I work and feel the best when I work with people I know, I became more outgoing as the year went on and I’m excited to befriend new people next year. for every school year before high school, I had the goal of becoming more organized and finally this year, I believe I reached that goal.
My Useful Education Website
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/search?q=science%20&location=srp&type=manual
During science last semester, I needed some extra support and blogs and pages such as National Geographic helped me a lot. National Geographic helped me especially since I know it is a trusted site and they know what they are talking about. I would search up science and what I was looking for usually popped up.
My Useful Educational Video
Since sometimes I can’t pick up math topics quickly and I only have math tutoring once a week, so sometimes I have to take matters into my own hands and teach myself using YouTube videos. I use many different teacher accounts such as Math Antics, Mario’s Math Tutoring etc.
A Useful Educational Image

I chose this image because it actively showcases that knowledge is power and growth. in the photo, it illustrates that the book is the water growing your brain like a plant, and I think this is a really cool way to make it clear.
My Inspirational Quote
“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new” -Albert Einstein
I chose this quote because I think about this quote every time I mess up and beat myself up over it. I think about it in many different contexts such as when I’m doing sports, school, and in everyday life.

Grade 9 Celebration of Learning
Science 9 Personal/Social Core Competency
This year in Science 9, I faced initial struggles in understanding difficult topics across chemistry, biology, and physics. Chemistry equations, biological processes, and the principles of physics seemed scary and tough at first. To overcome these challenges, I made myself study harder because I knew that my work would pay off. Seeking continuous feedback on my lab reports also improved my scientific approaches and growth. These efforts helped me turn my struggles into successes, fueling my passion for science and improving my thinking curricular competency. I refused to admit I was struggling. As the semester went on, I learned to become more personally aware and I reached out for assistance from tutors and peers which was an enormous help. this proved my ability to expand my knowledge and take on responsibilities. This proactive approach has built my confidence in myself, my grades, and my ability to be able to help other people as well. During Science 9, I actively used the “Questioning and Predicting” curricular competency to deepen my understanding of cell reproduction. During our unit on mitosis and meiosis, I constantly asked questions such as, “What happens to the genetic patterns if meiosis goes wrong?” This allowed me to predict potential outcomes and further my understanding of how cells multiply and pass on genetic information, like shown below.

English 9 Communication Core Competency
Throughout the school year, I experienced visible growth in my communication skills, particularly in my English class. Initially, I was hesitant to participate in class discussions and group activities, due to it being my first ever time in such a big school and such a big change of environment. However, as the semester progressed, I actively pushed myself out of my comfort zone, gradually becoming more confident in expressing my thoughts and opinions which proved I can understand and share information about topics that were discussed. I made an effort to engage with my peers during group projects, actively listening to their perspectives and contributing my own ideas. Overall, my increased social engagement and collaboration in English class has not only increased my learning experience but also made me more confident when talking in a group.
the link above is a story me and my partner wrote for an English assignment. This project showed my ability to compromise and split up the work evenly, to communicate through texts to figure out how we were going to write/plan out the story, and to collaborate since we both had somewhat different ideas. This story proved my ability to create and communicate thoroughly.
Math 9 Thinking Core Competency
In the beginning, I struggled to understand some more complex algebraic concepts. I met with my tutor once per week but even through my constant effort, I felt as though I was behind and struggling to pick up the lessons. I began to study for at least an hour every day whenever I could fit it in, and I watched videos explaining the concepts until I finally understood. Through these things I’ve learned to call routine, I felt more confident and my understanding deepened. Additionally, I applied the thinking core competency by actively reflecting on my problem-solving methods and analyzing the areas where I was struggling. This self-assessment helped me to identify specific gaps in my understanding and adjust my learning strategies according to that. In my Math 9 class, I improved my skills in “Understanding and Solving” by tackling a variety of linear equation problems, ensuring I grasped the steps involved in solving each one. For the “Reasoning and Analyzing” competency, I compared different methods like graphing versus substitution, analyzing which approach was most effective based on the equation’s complexity. This practice not only helped me solve equations more efficiently but also deepened my understanding of when and why to use each method.

(the photo above showcases a “Mathscot” we were instructed to make. As shown, I made a dragon who goes by the name “Perry the Polynomial Dragon” and he helps you combine and solve difficult polynomials.)
