Comparison to Canada

Holidays/Traditions

Canada’s holidays are quite similar to Ecuadors. Very few are different. Day of the dead is a major holiday in Ecuador, so big, its their most well known holiday/tradition. they also have all souls day, Cuenca Independence Day, Guayaquil Independence Day, and lots of other remembrance days. Easter week is super popular in Ecuador, whereas in Canada, some care for it more than others.

Sports

Sports in Ecuador are super similar to Canada’s, but the most popular one is football, which is known as soccer in Canada. volleyball, basketball, bicycling, and tennis. In Canada, we have invented lacrosse and play lots of hockey.

Climates/Landmarks

Canada is known for its mountains and Snow. Ecuador has seen snow, but you have to go extremely high in elevation before you can touch it. Ecuador is usually hot, however it does go cold fast. Ecuador has antique cities, whereas Canada is mostly modern with metro Vancouver, Surrey, and other places. both countries have popular islands: Galápagos Islands, Vancouver island.

Music

Ecuador is a musical country. they have their own Genre of music called Pasillo. it consists of guitars, rondins, (flute) and other string instruments. Canada loves pop music and alternative music, which is much different than Ecuador.

I would like to visit this country because I love street food, and I typically find foreign countries interesting. Ecuador is right by the ocean, which I love, and the Galapagos islands sound cool.

Core competencies

I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself. I show this by working hard to prepare and present my ideas. this shows I care for the subject.

I advocate for myself. I show this by understanding and being aware of the choices I made for this project, even though they were not the best.

I can reflect on my thinking. I presented this with this edublog and through my poster.

I can work with others to achieve a goal. I have proved this by sharing the poster with my partner, and working together to reach our goal.

my goals for next time. I understand how my values shape my choices. I was not really aware of how far I lived away from my partner, so it was up to him to create the poster. if we communicated more, then we could have collaborated better.
