Budgeting Project

Budgeting Project Presentation

Curricular Competency Reflection

I was able to identify life challenges by cross checking my budget with each expense to see how much I had left over. If I was going over the budget, I tried finding cheaper alternatives. For example, my mortgage payments were making a huge impact in my budget. By finding a cheaper home and an institution with lower mortgage rates, I was able to reduce my payments. For things such as groceries, I tried finding products that were made in Canada to avoid the price increase from the tariffs. I also tried avoiding name brands for basic things such as salt and pepper.

Core Competency Reflection

I recognize different points of view and can disagree respectfully. I chose this statement because when I ask for peer feedback and the person reviewing my work and I are not on the same terms, I explain to them why I chose or wrote that point and what my thought process was for it. This creates a form of mutual understanding between us and creates a respectful denial to their opinion.

I consider more than one way to proceed in an investigation. I chose this statement because when I am investigating or researching something, I try to find multiple sources that support my theory or project. I do this find the best source that improves my project and makes it stand out among others. This form of investigation allows me to expand my database and also add more information to my presentation.

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way. I chose this statement as when I share information, it is concise. For example, my PowerPoint for this project. It conveyed all the important information in a clear way that helped the class understand my budget and what my thinking was behind it. If I don’t present in a clear way, the information is not reaching out to the targeted audience and that makes my work useless.

Goal:

I can advocate for myself. I chose this goal because sometimes, I get scared to speak up for myself and I just go along with what is happening. In other words, I let those people think for me and they don’t allow me to have my input. I will hopefully achieve this goal by speaking up for myself when I am right and not let other people’s thoughts influence my thoughts and feelings.

SOCIAL STUDIES

When I work with peers I am able to express my ideas and made suggestions for how an assignment or class work should be structured. I support my peers by giving them feedback and ways to improve on their part in the project so that our project as a group stands out and gets good marks. I also try and get feedback from my peers in the group to make sure I am not doing anything wrong or if something in my work can be improved. For example, during the Siege of Przemyśl PowerPoint, I researched and organized key events and visuals, suggesting how we could structure the slides to highlight critical moments in the siege for clarity and engagement. Similarly, while working on the Indigenous Nations PowerPoint, I focused on structuring the content to ensure it was informative and respectful, while also ensuring the visuals and text flowed well for easy understanding. Throughout these projects, I used my communication and decision-making skills to keep our group on track and ensure that the presentations were well-organized and impactful. In bot PowerPoints, I referred with other groups to make sure I was on the right track and also gave them feedback on their work.

Core Competency Self-Assessment for Intro-Spanish 11

One of the ways I ensure that my group is clear on the common purpose is by telling them the activity/project we are doing and making sure that they understand the purpose. I demonstrated that skill in the activity in the image above by briefing my group members and went over the plan for the activity. If we had any questions, we asked the teacher to clear our doubts. During the activity, we encountered some problems such as going off-track during our task, and forgetting the words needed. We took a few breaks to get back on track and completed the activity. We also checked in with our peers to make sure we were doing everything right.

CPR RELECTION

“My Learning of CPR”

CPR Reflection

4 R’s: React, Risk, Recognize and Resuscitate (Not in order)
It’s important to learn about the 4 R’s because we can save ourselves and others. Knowing how to recognize the risks will help your family members and you to take precautionary steps.

Core Competency Reflection

Examples of where I communicated clearly and purposefully can be seen when I was doing my practical exam. I communicated with people next to me and asked them to bring an AED and call 911.

One area of CPR in which I’d like to spend more time learning is learning how to use an AED more efficiently and better. This will increase the CPR recipient’s chances of survival (maybe?).

I respectfully advocated for my learning needs in this unit by asking my peers and teacher if I had any questions and got them cleared.

Titration Lab – Chem 11

Titration is a technique used to find the amount of an aqueous solution required to have a complete reaction with another aqueous solution. In this lab, titration was used to find the milliliters of NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) required to neutralize HCl (Hydrochloric acid). Phenolphthalein was used as an indicator to tell us when we were nearing the endpoint of the titration. The endpoint of a titration is the point where the reaction is complete and adding more of the reactant will make the pH indicator change color. The endpoint of this titration was when the indicator (phenolphthalein) turned light pink and was taking time to turn clear. The purpose of this lab was to find the molarity of the hydrochloric acid. The molarity was calculated to be 0.134M ± 1.1%.

CommunicationCC: During this lab, me and my partner Deven, communicated with each other and distributed our work load evenly to execute the lab efficiently. We communicated with other groups to compare and contrasts our results and asked each other questions if we had any. For next time, we would pre-plan the strategy for the lab to make the lab more efficient and the work load on us lighter. We would also practice our technique more next time to make the lab work more accurate.

Cupcake Ad Reflection paragraph

The app I chose was Canva. I chose Canva because it offered a variety of features such as AI image generation, graphics, images and layouts that I used to make my print ad. Another app I tried to use was Microsoft PowerPoint but I did not like it as it did not have many features in comparison to Canva.

When me and my partner were deciding what ingredients to buy, we faced a big issue. The issue was that we were going over the set budget of $35 so we had to remove several ingredients and opt for cheaper options. After deciding all the ingredients, we got our final price and decided to price our cupcake at $3.50 as it looked reasonable. The price also looked premium as it was not to low for the customers to think that we used cheap ingredients but also not too high for customers to not buy it.

Our print ad is effective because we used all the elements of marketing which should hopefully attract customers. Our ad was not too cluttered but also had sufficient information that explained what the cupcake was and where it was available.

3 core competencies I achieved were:

-I work with others to achieve a goal, I recognize different points of view and can disagree respectfully and I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others.

#ThinkingCC: When we started our project, we didn’t know what task our machine would perform. We spent one whole block brainstorming ideas and tried out various designs. My team members and I looked at other people’s ideas and asked them about how they came up with their idea. We also then looked up existing projects made by other people on the web and took some inspiration. At first our task was knocking a container or object into the recycling bin. We didn’t do that because our project was at a different level than the bin. We later came up with the idea of raising a flag as the flag “hoist” was already incorporated into our project by the ring stands and weight pulley system. We modified our project and it has several transfers along with multiple transformations. For the next time we do this, I would like to think of a plan and task beforehand so we don’t have to waste time on brainstorming ideas.

#CommunicationCC: My team members and I had many communications on the project as we couldn’t come to conclusion for the final design. We talked about the pros and cons about our designs and what transfers and transformations it would have. In the end we combined all of our designs and we came to a conclusion in which our design had the most efficient transfers without the loss of energy and also multiple transformations and also looked fun.
——————————————————————————————————————-
I got many skills and also improved many skills. One skill I got in the duration of this project was determining common purposes. As I mentioned in my ThinkingCC, we had a hard time coming up with a common design so we brainstormed and came up with a final design. A skill I improved on was communication. I communicated with my group members to share our ideas and improve our design

ADL Social Studies- Ethical Judgement

Recording-20240501_135905.webm

Is violence justified during a revolution or protest?

A) How did the use of AI assist you in developing this project
AI helped me find sources and valid data sets of information. It also helped me correct any mistakes I may have made while writing my paragraphs and rebuttals.

B) How did you ensure that the work you created was still your own, rather than just a product of the AI.
I understood what AI had to say for the information i provided it with and then I summarized it and wrote my response based on what I read.

C) Did you agree with the position you had to argue? Why or why not?
Yes, I agree with the position I had. I agree with it because violence is never the answer and it can’t solve things and leave a positive impact at the same time. Most of the time, violence has killed innocent people such as the Israel-Hamas war or the French Revolution.

Core Competency Reflection

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen when i communicated with my partner to find resources and ways from where we can get more information and improve our data to have more accurate and good information.

When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I start a conversation and eventually lead up to the project and ask them questions about it. This helps me and them not feel awkward and weird when we ask each other questions.
