Core Competency Reflection
#ThinkingCC: When we started our project, we didn’t know what task our machine would perform. We spent one whole block brainstorming ideas and tried out various designs. My team members and I looked at other people’s ideas and asked them about how they came up with their idea. We also then looked up existing projects made by other people on the web and took some inspiration. At first our task was knocking a container or object into the recycling bin. We didn’t do that because our project was at a different level than the bin. We later came up with the idea of raising a flag as the flag “hoist” was already incorporated into our project by the ring stands and weight pulley system. We modified our project and it has several transfers along with multiple transformations. For the next time we do this, I would like to think of a plan and task beforehand so we don’t have to waste time on brainstorming ideas.
#CommunicationCC: My team members and I had many communications on the project as we couldn’t come to conclusion for the final design. We talked about the pros and cons about our designs and what transfers and transformations it would have. In the end we combined all of our designs and we came to a conclusion in which our design had the most efficient transfers without the loss of energy and also multiple transformations and also looked fun.

I got many skills and also improved many skills. One skill I got in the duration of this project was determining common purposes. As I mentioned in my ThinkingCC, we had a hard time coming up with a common design so we brainstormed and came up with a final design. A skill I improved on was communication. I communicated with my group members to share our ideas and improve our design
