What three core competencies did I demonstrate with the Cupcake Print Ad Assignment:
For collaborating in communication, I take on roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share. Since my phone has a feature that can lift the subject from the background, as well as a smart select option that lets me add or erase areas as I want, I took care of my part by finding pictures and using those tools. Also, there was a box we had to fill out by doing some calculations, so I volunteered to do that task after I got home because it seemed like it would take a lot of time. I know my group members are kind enough, so I thought I should at least take on that responsibility.
For Social Awareness and Responsibility in Personal/Social, I can identify how my actions affect the community or environment, and I can make a positive change. On the first day of our cupcake project, one of our group members, Alyssa, was absent. Manisha and I decided to do whatever we could in advance. We also encouraged each other to add creative elements and text while designing the Print Ad. Because of this teamwork, we were able to finish the project earlier than expected, even though we didn’t book a flex block. My group members and I motivated each other, which helped us share ideas confidently and contribute equally.
For Creative Thinking in Thinking, I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others. The idea “Bring a friend for a 15% off coupon” and the cloud graphic, which is placed behind the menu, is the element that I suggested. By considering the price both with and without a discount, we set an appropriate price after discussing. I think it is a creative idea because most people would bring their friend to get a 15% discount. It is positive for both of them and us because they get the coupon, and we can have an additional customer.
Collaboration Prompts: If the group is not productive, we can divide the role accurately in order to get things moving in the right direction. Yesterday, I worked on making the circuit and explained how to draw the circuit that I made, using the circuit diagram symbols. We cooperated well and finished it smoothly with communicating and suggesting our own opinions. I think it is better to have more communication with my group members if I can speak English well, to express my thinking and tell them what I am going to do more clearly.
Creative Thinking Prompts:One strategy or activity that stimulates my imagination is planning process with drawing on paper before doing or working something. However, I also enjoy the planning step even there is no paper to draw on, because I also like to imagine with my head. Actually, I am not that creative if there is no limited area, because I struggle from the beginning with thoughts about ‘Where I have to start?’, but when I can thinking about with limited area such as math or science which already has a stated answer, I am really excited to be close and closer to reach the answer, and that gives me some motivation and confident. From this activity, I stimulated my imagination by conception step, which is a process of planning. I think about it with my head and draw it own paper simply when the concept is more finalized.
Social Awareness and Responsibility Prompts: My One Goal that I have for myself going forward in my Science Learning is having a an open-minded attitude that I understand that ethical decisions are rarely “black and white”, and so I will have a mindset that willingness to embrace others’ opinions to make sure that I make the best decisions for the most people. The reason why this is my goal is that, if I think I’m right, or even it is, I just push my opinion strongly with little ignoring other ways even there is a better or easier ways.
· My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include carefully cross-checking multiple sources to ensure accuracy, evaluating the credibility and recency of the information provided by AI tools such as ChatGPT, and referring to reliable and up-to-date websites. This approach is especially important in professional or time-sensitive fields, such as finance, where outdated or inaccurate data could lead to critical errors.
· Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in my writing about the limitations of AI. In this, I present both the strengths and weaknesses of artificial intelligence, such as its convenience and the risk of outdated or incorrect information. I support my ideas with specific examples and cite the OpenAI Help Center to reinforce the importance of using AI as a reference tool rather than a definitive source.
Core Competency: What are 3 core competencies you demonstrated with the Storyboard Assignment?
1. Creative Thinking – The structure and development of the story are creative and describe the situation realistically. For example, the transition from an oral contract to a written contract, as well as the scene where legal action is considered due to a breach of contract, realistically reflects the process of solving a contract-related problem.
2. Legal Reasoning – Well-understanding of legal concepts associated with the contract is clearly demonstrated in the story. The ability to apply these concepts is shown through the handling of various legal procedures and terms, such as entering into a contract, negotiating conditions, and taking legal action when a breach of contract occurs. The storyboard effectively demonstrates legal reasoning.
3. Problem-Solving Skills – The protagonist in the story offers a logical and practical way to solve the problem they faced. You can get a glimpse of my problem-solving skills through the consideration of legal action for the breach of contract as a solution.
This year has been a time of growth and learning for me. I improved my skills in mathematics, and explored new areas like digital document management and business technologies. Moving to Canada and studying at Centennial Secondary as a 9th grader has been a big change, but I’ve adapted well. Overall, I’ve gained new knowledge, adjusted to a new environment, and kept up with my passions.

Which topic, project or assignment was meaningful to you? Why?
ㄴ The most meaningful activity, in my opinion, was writing. Through this activity, I developed the ability to express what I wanted to convey in writing and learned how to organize my ideas concisely into multiple paragraphs. Additionally, conducting prior research helped me broaden my background knowledge, making it a truly valuable experience.
What do you do to help yourself when you feel a bit discourage about your work?
ㄴ Especially during the Brochure Project, I found it challenging to organize the many things I needed to introduce, as it required realistic thinking and careful planning. As a result, it took more time than I expected. Before fully starting the project, I struggled to figure out what I should explore in depth and how to group similar topics for explanation. At that time, I listened to music while working on the project, which helped me feel more relaxed and calm throughout the process. Thanks to this, I was able to produce a result that I was fairly satisfied with, and it made me feel good.
What are the most important ways my experience with the Song Project demonstrates personal and social growth?
ㄴ During doing the Song Project, I felt my personal and social abilities had grown. In my personal growth, by having enough time to make PowerPoint presentation, I can mention that I learned how to divide my time to work efficiently. One side of social growth that I think has grown is active listening. By listening to other students’ presentation, I can pay attention to presentation more closely, and I know how to find the meaning intended to convey.
Which advertising technique did you choose and how did you use that technique to create your poster?
Answer : I chose two of those advertising technique, card stacking and special offer. The reason that I chose these two technique is, Card Stacking highlights only the best features, making the product look superior and convincing and Special Offer creates urgency and attracts customers by offering exclusive discounts or limited-time deals.
2. Explain how and why you chose the colrs, words, background, etc. that you used to make your advertisement.
The reason that I chose the gray color in background is, the color harmony with the product. It also looks more simple and clear. And, I listed the benefits of the products like that, which is looks like chatting, because to show that many teenagers use this product.
What do you think others who aren’t in your class should know about advertising?
Advertising is designed to persuade people to buy products or services by highlighting their benefits. It often uses techniques like emotional appeal, urgency, and selective information to influence consumers.

One strategy or activity that inspired my imagination on this project was creating a sense of urgency through special offers, as it made me think about how limited-time deals can motivate people to take action quickly. I keep my account private to avoid contact from strangers. I don’t use harmful language in spaces or elements that many people can see, such as comments on social media. I also don’t upload my photos carelessly.
