Curricular Compentecy Explanation

A titration is a form of determining the concentration of a solution. The process during a titration lab would consist of a solution mixed/added to a substance until a reaction occurs as the final product. In lab 20C, the objective was to titrate a known solution of hydrochloric acid with unknown concentration levels incorporated in a standardized sodium hydroxide, and to utilize the titration data to calculate the molarity of the hydrochloric acid alongside. Titration was used by using a known base, in this case, NaOH ((standardized)sodium hydroxide)) with the initial volume of 1.75 mL for the first (rough) trial out of 4, and had an uncertainty of 0.05 mL. The way to find out when you’re getting to the endpoint/equivalence point for this lab is mark down and notice the duration of the reaction occurring, and for 20C, it was measuring the time of how long the colour pink stayed consistent in the solute as it tells you when you get to the ending point of your experiment. The results of the experiment were satisfactory although I had to do an extra trial due to complications.

I felt that my experience of communication shined the brightest out of the other competencies. I demonstrated lots of communication skills between my partner and I by as we took turns with each procedure. Although there was confusion which lead to us having to do an extra trial, we communicated the frustration in a positive manner which I think got us through the experiment while still being sane and taught us that nothing will go the way you want it even if you do nothing wrong.

The skill I had demonstrated that I feel it being one of my biggest strengths would be “Understanding the learning process”.

I see this statement being most fitting as I tend to have a very negative mindset when it comes to getting my assignments/tests back because of the sudden whiplash I get when I didn’t receive the mark that I had envisioned. I’ve noticed my character development by seeing how my GOAL SETTING has changed overtime throughout the semester because of having the sudden realization that not everyone gets to where they want to be immediately, as everyone has/had struggled to get to their goals. I understand that some people might take longer in certain areas than others, and that’s okay, because I believe practice makes perfect.

An example of when I used this skill was when I had just started my grade 11 year for chemistry. I had to complete a lab with my partner, and we both thought felt extremely confident that we would successfully complete the lab in time and hand it in before the due date…We in fact did not complete the lab on time which led to us handing in an overdue assignment. Although I was quite upset, I kept the idea in the back of my mind that it’ll only be trial and error. This helped me significantly as I appeared more confident in completing a lab after another.

I recognize that my strengths can be served as powerful tools to overcome obstacles in order to achieve my goals. By viewing my challenges as opportunities for growth, I can develop resilience and turn difficulties into valuable learning experiences as I grow up.

My daily lifestyle tracker

the photo above shows my daily lifestyle tracker for my eating, sleeping, and physical activity of one of the 7 days I was tracking things down. I had mentioned my overall sleep for that day alongside every detail of what emotions I had felt that day. I listed every food I consumed in order from breakfast, lunch, and to dinner. I was very detailed with the emotions/feelings that were presented throughout the day, but I didn’t put the reason to why, due to the reasons being personal as I don’t feel comfortable sharing.

REFLECTION

I personally think I didn’t excel in anything that was tracked down, although, social connections do come close to something I believe was somewhat a thing I excelled at. I feel that I need to improve on everything but, I will take my time by focusing on one thing at a time, and my choice would be focusing on my sleep as it can affect my physical, my interactions, my eating habits, and emotions.

My Core competency strength for the unit was the social aspect and communication. My friends and I shared our lifestyle tracking and thought about how different each and every one of us was outside of school hours. We talked as a group on how we could all improve on our bad habits and decided to work together to make the best versions of ourselves in a timely manner.

I can take on roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share every single time I have a project that includes another person. We both ensured that we take equal roles as partners by switching/tapping out doing the actual lab while the other will write down the notes, and when either one of us is stuck/unsure of what the next procedure is or doesn’t know how to record the experiments results, we will stop whatever we’re doing and work on it together to figure out how to do whatever we needed to do that we were stuck on.

Reflecting on My First Year

This year I’m glad I’m surrounded by such amazing and supportive staff. I love that almost every teacher I’ve had, I can talk to them casually and they’ve been so incredibly kind/understanding to me. I’ve never felt such a close bond to school staff as of my middle school staff weren’t the best.

My Favourite Video

When I was recording my diaper ad for my hunger games project, this video was taken by my friend Ian because he thought it was funny how many takes it took of the diaper being thrown at me.He’s one sneaky paparazzi because I didn’t see him recording me. This shows how my friend group is like and I treasure it more than my safety when I’m on public transit. I love and appreciate that they’d put the time and effort to help me with not only my project, but in general with everything and I just am so grateful/love them so much with all of my heart. I don’t really show affection as much so it seems like I don’t love or care for them, but in reality I cherish all of them like the money in my safe.

This photo was taken on the last day of p.e with my soon to be ex best friends! It shows our friend group perfectly. Lucas is chill, calm, stays out of chaos, and is very happy majority of the time. I’m the mother of the group but it doesn’t show photo. While in the background, Sabrina is acting like the little monster that she is, choking Ian because she’s just a little crazy gremlin. Ian is choking himself because he doesn’t want to die from being choked from Sabrina and would rather suffocate by his own hands. I love how it shows the chaotic silliness and chill/calm in 1 photo although our entire group is very energetic, loud, and wild. If you’re asking “why not pick a photo with everyone acting crazy”, this was a very free day where we could do anything on the field, the sun was so perfect and the weather was not too hot or cold. the vibes were immaculate during that day and life just felt amazing at that moment.

This image was taken during our DNA extraction of a strawberry experiment. Me and 2 other people worked on this lab together to find out what caused the reaction/how the DNA was being extracted from a smashed strawberry mixed with salt, water, and soap (why it was necessary to crush the strawberry). Throughout the entire experiment, we all took turns gathering materials, pouring, mixing, observing etc. which showed that we had demonstrated immense teamwork/included everyone (equal participation). We wouldn’t have had good teamwork if it weren’t for all of us having strong communication, and that too is what we also accomplished. With our good communication and outside of the box thinking skills, we all managed to problem solve together to figure out the purpose & conclusion of the experiment.

The experiment is making me come to the realization that I’ve accomplished my goal of reaching the proficient skills in communicating overall in general (groups, 1 on 1…) because majority of the time, I’m the one initiating the conversations and encouraging my peers to show the group their ideas/thoughts on the topic were talking about in almost every group project. I still would love to grow in my decision making as I’m very stubborn and indecisive. I’ll try my best to work up to my goal no matter how long it’ll take because I’d want show that I’m committed and have good work ethic.

☆ My project was supposed to benefit the age group of around 18+. it would be confusing if it wasn’t at a specific age range because babies/toddlers already wear diapers and don’t watch the games (most likely). Making it appropriate for the right age range like making the editing in a certain eye catching way that people around that age love also really mattered.

☆ it would be a logical persuasion.

☆ I used a famous person at the end of my advertisement video. Kim K is a very known person around the world and she has her own brand which is doing better than well so I assumed that most people would be interested since she has high standards, proving that my product is that good.

☆ This is how I selected images and words to create impact for my planned audience: I didn’t use ‘big words’ that some people wouldn’t know the definition on but instead used more simple and commonly used trending phrases nowadays.

☆ An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas: I came up with everything on my own. I did get a little bit of info from my friends but I didn’t end up using their ideas. If I were in a group project though, I usually speak out about my ideas, then encourage my peers to do the same and we all build upon each others ideas.

☆ One of the ways I ensured that I was clear on what I was doing: was by writing a script and going over it multiple times trying to see if it made sense, to check what I needed to change, and what I needed to add. I would sometimes get my friends to listen to my scripts and ask if it made sense and what I could do to make it more interesting, getting their opinions really helped even if I still got a bad mark.

I often had trouble asking for help from teachers or friends because I thought I looked dumb, I remember first asking for help was during LEC, I’m not sure of what assignment it was on. I realized how helpful it actually was getting my work broken down and learned new ways of doing things and had a lot more success with my grades.

I found that studying/reviewing my notes or doing questions with a teacher or friend that might be on a test or just homework in general, improved so much on how I did in that class. I quickly got over the fear of asking for help once I noticed that this tactic helped my grades and overall understanding of what was going on. I often would get lost when teachers are giving instructions and it sort of put me at ease (It would constantly be on my mind and stress me out at home or anywhere until I understood how to do it). It motivated me to put all of my focus on the lessons/homework I had to get finished, and I genuinely enjoy doing my work sometimes now.

Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced online presence include:

reminding myself that people can screenshot, and it’ll be on my digital footprint forever. I often just remind myself that when I do job interviews, everyone will have access to my content I post/write about. I try my best to keep it positive and appropriate when friends, family or even teachers see what I do/say (not ruin my future basically).

justification:

GIC’s are a great investment without any high risk to losing money, (you’re guaranteed to receive the amount you invested back as it’s unlikely for the GIC to decrease). while being partnered up with the GIC, the savings will increase but you will have no access as its being locked up for whatever time you signed up for, (for a short term GIC you’ll be able to cash out your pay faster (short term GIC’s are great if you have a spending problem because it’ll be locked up for you not to spend, and is also a way to keep your money safe for less than a year. You must be careful and be very sure you won’t be needing a large amount of money for a long time if you invest in a longer term GIC, even in the extreme occasions you won’t be able to withdraw until the end of the term.
