Budgeting for a Special Day

Special Day for my grandma.

I’m planning this special day for my Grandma and I. First my father would drive me to my Grandmas place. I would be dropped off, and then me and my grandma would go out. First we would go to Tim Hortons to get Ice Capps to refresh ourselves before doing our next activity. We would then go golfing at West Field Country Club in Surrey. After golfing we would go to lunch at A&W. After we would go get some gas to fill up my grandmas cars tank. We would then go to Safeway, to buy some ice cream for dessert. We would then go back to her place and we would rest for half an hour. After, we would start making dinner which would be home made chicken noodle soup. After dinner we would eat the ice cream and watch some TV.

Gas$50.0050/300×100=16.7%I’ve checked websites but they do not post the price. Since it takes about $80 to fill a tank (right now). I would only fill the tank up a bit over half way depending on how full the tank is.
Ice Cream$5.005/300×100=1.7%There is SafeWay website but I can’t find the ice cream.

Analysis

  1. I used $142.76 for my project of going out with my grandma.
  2. I ended up using 47.66% of my total budget.
  3. If I only had $100, I would have only used $25 for gas if the tank wasn’t full. I don’t need to buy gas, it was just incase. I wouldn’t have bought Iced Capps for us in the morning, it was just extra caffeine to give us something cold to refresh us. I wouldn’t have bought Ice Cream, we could just use the crêpes for dessert.
  4. I would have taken my grandma out for dinner at the Keg for steak if I had $500. We could’ve gotten donuts or TimBits from Tim Hortons for a little snack in the car while driving to the golf place. We could buy some groceries for my grandma.

Reflection

1. Why did you choose this specific person? Why do you believe they deserve to be celebrated?

I chose my grandma because I love spending time with her and my parents and I believe I should be spending more time with her since she is getting older. She is also my last grandparent and she is very special to me. She deserves to be celebrated since she doesn’t get enough interaction with me, and she loves spending time with me.

2. Why did you choose to spend your budget the way you did? What factors went into your decisions?

I decided to spend my budget the way I did because I knew these activities are things my grandma and I like to do together. Some factors that went into my decision was that my grandma likes playing golf. She likes A&W burgers, so it would be a lunch she would like. My grandma has always had a sweet tooth for ice cream so it would be an amazing dessert for after dinner.

The part of unit 1 that I am most comfortable with is fractions. I am most comfortable with fractions because I find them easy to work with.

· The most difficult part of unit 1 for me is the Desmos games, it confuse me while doing the submarine game.

· I usually learn new material best when I work with people in groups and also one on one with a teacher. It helps me focus more when I have a one on one with a teacher. Though I am learning well right now, if I do have any struggles I will tell the teacher.

· I plan to prepare for the unit test by studying and reviewing online notes, getting help if I need it.

· I have already completed all the assigned practice problems.

· Tell me what this statement means to you, in reference to math class: “I persevere with challenging tasks and take ownership of my goals, learning and behavior.” This statement means to me that even though I have hard work, I work through it and get it done. I live up to my goals, learning and behavior.
