Reflection On My Career Research Report In CLE 10

Curricular Competency Reflection

My chosen careers are an Anesthesiologist, an Orthodontist and a Neurosurgeon. I chose these careers because they’re all related to the medical field. I’ve always wanted to work in a hospital to help patients get the help they need and get better. The takeaways from researching about these three careers was the amount of schooling and education needed to get one of these jobs. The amount of money it all costs for schooling. As well as the limitation to get one of these jobs. I’m mostly interested in pursuing becoming a neurosurgeon because of the way they work and because it’s such a in deft specialty, it would be very cool to pursue. I’m interested in attending U of T or McGill because of their high-end programs and I know the education they give is very high and well taught. I’m not ready at all to start this journey, I feel that I’m not mature enough to take this amount of schooling and pressure for these careers. I must get good grades to become ready to make decisions to join a university or specialize in what I would like to pursue. I can prepare myself by researching more in detail about what these jobs are, what they do, the education and money needed, just how much I would like these careers, and if I want to put in all that work to pursue one of these jobs.

Core Competency Reflection

I remain open minded as I explore viable options or alternative approaches, like when I was researching for this project. Many sources that I used were not completely true and it was hard to see what was true and what was fake. Instead, I used trusted websites and resources such as the university’s actual websites instead of the myBLUEPRINT.

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I take a little break, then I put a timer on for 45 minutes and work for that time. After the time is up, I then take another break. I continue this until I finished my work.

Some of the things I do to stay mentally and physically healthy include taking brain breaks to let my brain relax and not overload it. I also take a snack break to boost my energy.

Advertisement Persuasion Project

My Advertisement:

Persuasion and Advertisement Techniques

I tried to input the video but it did not work. So hopefully you can use this link as a way to access the video. Thank you.

Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection

· Why is it important to remember who benefits from the advertisement when you view an advertisement?

To remember who you’re giving your money to if you plan on buying a product from a company. Asking yourself if it is worth buying a product. Is the company trustworthy or are they just trying to rip you off.

· Choose one form of persuasion and explain why it is effective in persuading you/an audience: logical, ethical, emotional

Logical: It’s effective in persuading someone because it’s easier to find results of a product. You can add facts about a product that can be true but also false to manipulate someone into thinking it can be true.

· Choose an advertising technique and explain why it is effective in selling a product.

Bandwagon: Bandwagon is effective in selling because most people who want to ‘fit in’ usually buy these items that are in style. It makes everyone want to buy them so they can also be cool and keep in fashion with everyone else.

Core Competency Reflection

I showed others that I truly valued their contributions by taking into consideration any changes or ideas my partner had on the project. I wanted to listen to any ideas my partner came up with so we can both contribute our ideas to come up with a decision we both agree on.

I used to think that most advertisement was real in what they said about advertisement and now I know that they aren’t all truthful about their advertisement because persuasion has showed me that they are mostly trying to persuade me into buying their products without thinking.

An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when my partner said that we should make the colour of the text brighter. So I decided to change all of the text’s colours into a brighter colour of the advertisement so that everyone can see the price better as if highlighting it’s cheap.

Capitol Mutation Collaborative Project

My Project

Collaborating Core Competency Reflection

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include researching on Google and the internet. One of the ways my group is clear on the common purpose is to remind them what we’re doing, what it’s on, and reviewing what we’ve been talking about. Others find my ideas useful because I have plenty of ideas to share with everyone. One strategy or activity that stimulates my imagination is when I talk with others to get their ideas and opinions. While keeping a few of mine and combining the rest by talking and collaborating with others.

My First Year

My Grade 9 Year

Some words that described my year are exciting, encouraging and stressful. My year was exciting because I got to make new friends and grow closer to others. My year was encouraging because I was being encouraged to do my best by my friends and family. My year was also stressful because I’ve had quite a bit of work to do, and even though it may not be a lot. I tend to stress about the little things. I’m most proud of getting a 93% as my final grade for French 10.

A Useful Educational Website

https://elements.wlonk.com/ElementsTable.htm

The reason I chose this website is because it helped me a lot in my Chemistry unit for science. It helped me learn more about elements, what they are, and how they are used. It’s helped me enjoy Chemistry more by interacting with the elements in a fun yet educational way.

A Useful Educational Video

The reason I chose this video is because it helped me learn about how safety works in labs. It helps me because I can listen to it since it’s music and I can remember more things in a song then on a paper.

A Useful Educational Image

I chose this image because it was my favourite lab in science. We got to see different colour flames from different chemical reactions and it was amazing to see. I was shocked at the different colours.

An Inspirational Quote

“It is often the small steps, not the giant leaps, that bring about the most lasting change.”

Queen Elizabeth II

The reason I chose this quote because it was moving. I usually take big leaps instead of small steps. And I’m realizing that I should start small and go big after.

Budgeting for a Special Day

Special Day for my grandma.

I’m planning this special day for my Grandma and I. First my father would drive me to my Grandmas place. I would be dropped off, and then me and my grandma would go out. First we would go to Tim Hortons to get Ice Capps to refresh ourselves before doing our next activity. We would then go golfing at West Field Country Club in Surrey. After golfing we would go to lunch at A&W. After we would go get some gas to fill up my grandmas cars tank. We would then go to Safeway, to buy some ice cream for dessert. We would then go back to her place and we would rest for half an hour. After, we would start making dinner which would be home made chicken noodle soup. After dinner we would eat the ice cream and watch some TV.

Gas$50.0050/300×100=16.7%I’ve checked websites but they do not post the price. Since it takes about $80 to fill a tank (right now). I would only fill the tank up a bit over half way depending on how full the tank is.
Ice Cream$5.005/300×100=1.7%There is SafeWay website but I can’t find the ice cream.

Analysis

  1. I used $142.76 for my project of going out with my grandma.
  2. I ended up using 47.66% of my total budget.
  3. If I only had $100, I would have only used $25 for gas if the tank wasn’t full. I don’t need to buy gas, it was just incase. I wouldn’t have bought Iced Capps for us in the morning, it was just extra caffeine to give us something cold to refresh us. I wouldn’t have bought Ice Cream, we could just use the crêpes for dessert.
  4. I would have taken my grandma out for dinner at the Keg for steak if I had $500. We could’ve gotten donuts or TimBits from Tim Hortons for a little snack in the car while driving to the golf place. We could buy some groceries for my grandma.

Reflection

1. Why did you choose this specific person? Why do you believe they deserve to be celebrated?

I chose my grandma because I love spending time with her and my parents and I believe I should be spending more time with her since she is getting older. She is also my last grandparent and she is very special to me. She deserves to be celebrated since she doesn’t get enough interaction with me, and she loves spending time with me.

2. Why did you choose to spend your budget the way you did? What factors went into your decisions?

I decided to spend my budget the way I did because I knew these activities are things my grandma and I like to do together. Some factors that went into my decision was that my grandma likes playing golf. She likes A&W burgers, so it would be a lunch she would like. My grandma has always had a sweet tooth for ice cream so it would be an amazing dessert for after dinner.

ADL Social Studies-Ethical Judgement

Reflection question: Is it justified to deny people’s rights in the name if industrialization/ progress?

A) How did the use of AI assist you in developing this project?

It helped me get more answers than searching it up on Google or anywhere else. It gives you more of the answers you are looking for, but it also gives you random information that you did not need.

B) How did you ensure that the work you created was still your own, rather than just a product of the AI?

I thought about the answers AI gave me and I changed them to what I imagined was correct. I also did use my thought’s for most of the project instead of using AI.

C) Did you agree with the position you had to argue? Why or why not?

I did agree with the position I was in. I agreed with my side more because of the way I thought about the questions. But I do have to agree with what Brook said about his side. Both sides seemed like a good excuse, but I do have to agree with the con side more.

Core Competency reflection

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include using my thought’s and asking my friends if they have any ideas. I also just ask for help with anyone to get an understanding of what they think so then I convert it into my thought’s than I get the bigger idea. When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I try to get to know them better and ask question’s so that I have a bit of an understanding with them. Understanding how they work I guess is what I’m trying to do . So I just talk with them.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

Creative thinking

My artifact: Jorts

I made jorts because they are very comfortable and I needed another pair. I demonstrated my creative thinking skills during this project by making a project that most people wouldn’t really think about. I developed my idea’s through my jorts that my sister made me. I also like the style that jorts are, they are long and go with a lot of clothing that I own. One strategy or activity that stimulates my imagination is drawing. Drawing me helps picture what my imagination is trying to build for me, even though I am not very good at it, I still try. When it seems the good ideas just won’t come to me, I take a break from thinking to help calm myself or create space in my mind to relax and think that I can come back to thinking later, or I can just go for a walk to calm down. I am so curious about sewing machines that I am excited to learn more about how I could use more stiches to make my projects even better.

Personal/Social Reflections

My 2023/2024 Year Goals

Reflection

My most important goals for this term is getting better grades. Studying for test’s is very important in order for you to understand about what might be on tests. Reviewing everyday after school is good to get the information that you’ve learned into your brain. Taking notes is so good for reviewing. Reading more books is important because it gives me more time to learn more and it takes me away from electronics.

Ethical judgement on Residential Schools

What happened in the residential schools was not fair nor was it just. The actions of the western people (the settlers) taking their land and homes and forcing them into schools is so unfair to the indigenous people. Having to live in the school for years or months and not being able to see your family just shows you how bad it was. Not being able to speak your language and being mistreated by the workers there is unthinkable. Some made it out while others died trying to. The amount of pain and suffering the indigenous people had to feel is unimaginable. The amount of times people had been caught and placed back in the schools is unbearable.
