Our Movie
Character , Setting and Mood
I learned that determining a characters physical appearance isn’t as easy as you would imagine when it isn’t clear in the book. Everyone has a different interpretation about how they believe the character looks. So you can’t really find one exact idea of what they look like. I ended up just choosing the appearance that I got the most results from.
We had to read the play to understand the historical setting of where and when this play took place. The setting of the play is mystical and magical sort of fantasy like place. So it could be at any time in history. It’s timeless, like this stuff never actually happened in history. So I chose photos for our movie that had a fantasy like appeal.
Mood is like a feeling. If something scary in a movie is happening, to set the mood they would play some ominous, creepy music to make you feel creeped out. They would make the setting ominous and dark, because the unknown is frightening and you don’t know what could be in the dark. We decided on the mood of like fantastical and magical because it’s a story about a bunch of fairies in a magical woods and the song seemed to fit that.
The play Midsummer Night’s Dream, by William Shakespeare, is a comedy. The play is meant to be amusing. A lot of bizarre, strange things happen which are funny, and could never actually happen in real life.
Core Competency Reflection
This movie is an example of me building upon someone else’s ideas. We were working together to find images that supported what we were trying to show about the play Midsummer Night’s Dream. Also I respectfully advocated for my needs when one of my group members was not doing as much work as the rest of us. We were nice to him but strongly told him to do his share of work.
