Scientific method lab I’m most proud of: “Can you spot the hypothesis?“
I did exceptionably well on on the lab and am still very proud of myself for nailing it. It isn’t often i find myself genuinely patting myself on the back for something so I plan on doing even better on future labs and assignments going forward.
Core Competency self assessment, and creative thinking
“I demonstrated that I can create new things when I…” Worked on my egg dropper
“I demonstrated that I can build on the ideas of other by….” working physically with a partner for 2 project’s.
“When trying new things, I expect setbacks and failure and use them to develop my ideas. An example of this from the Scientific Method labs would be …” During one of the labs where we were told to show what was wrong with image shown above and It ended up taking me a while to put into words exactly what was being shown.
Scientific method project I’m Most Proud Of: The Egg drop challenge
Curricular Response
Golf ball tower: Me and my partner (Mischa) struggled with it a lot, and basically ended up throwing in the towel and simply placing a piece of newspaper down with the ball sitting on top. In terms of usage of the scientific method we noticed that going into our project from the beginning we were rushed and frantically trying to shove the ball on top last minute. While we went into the it fairly calm and so sure we’d be able to make it work, it ended in disaster. I find it was still a very good learning opportunity and don’t regret anything we did except for maybe the little thought and planning that was done by us before actually getting into the building.
Egg Dropper: Me and Mischa definitely did better when it came to working with the egg dropper. When working on the device that would hold it I think we did pretty well. Even if we only got one point. When I think about the way we worked on both projects I don’t see any real difference between the ways we worked on them both. If anything, we were even more unprepared. When it came to the egg dropper we already kind of had an idea of the overall shape we wanted to go for. It changed about a million times before we actually settled on the cone design which I’m pretty sure was my idea. I think our real fault with our design was the way we used our straws. The best way to use them was the way all of the people who’s eggs survived did. Out of the two, I’m more glad then anything that at least we learnt how to better control ourselves and better manage our time for future projects like these two.
