What I learned in lab 19C

Core Competency Reflection
One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to…
When about to start any lab, my lab partner and I always make sure to communicate with one another to ensure clarity for the lab. We make sure discuss what the goal of the lab is and to make sure we understand how to reach the goal. In the case that neither of us are not clear on what to do, we read the textbook or ask around for feedback from our peers. Sometimes, our peers are unable to help as they are busy with their own work, and we must ask the teacher for direction or an explanation.
Some things I think about before dividing tasks among group members include…
When dividing tasks, efficiency and accuracy is the goal. We keep this in mind as we split up the tasks for the lab. For example, in this lab, we had to get a specific amount of solution without using an eyedropper. So, we had to get accurate volumes of solution 12 times for each test tube. While one person was preparing the solutions, it would get tedious doing it over and over, so eventually the other person would switch the job of measuring volume. Another example is the end of labs. Sometimes it takes longer than expected, so while one person is watching the experiment, the other person would clean up to ensure that we can finish the lab without staying late.
My goal is moving forward is to manage time better as I notice that the labs always take a while, and we are usually one of the last ones to finish, and we end up cutting in to time after class. My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include… focusing when the teacher is going over instructions before the lab. Another strategy is to read the procedures beforehand, as to gain familiarity to the lab. This would be helpful because the lab usually takes a while because we are figuring out what we need to do.
