Character, Setting and Mood
The idea of a fairy queen world in collaboration with an ancient greek world pushes the boundaries of absurdity, therefore we desired to make the avatar strange but recognizable. The blue skin, the rarest colour in nature, represents the physical separation from herself and the rest of the forest. Meanwhile, her green eyes represent the spiritual connection to the forest around her.
A setting can and will change the mood and thoughts of both reader and characters. The magical forest in A Midsummer Night’s Dream influenced the reader’s perception, as it gives a reasonable explanation for the insane reactions from the characters. Meanwhile, our powerpoint needed a theme for the background images. While I didn’t choose the images from Brook and Matteo, I did choose the ones for the first few slides. The theme I adored was a cartoon forest and that’s because the avatars have a cartoon aura.
Mood is described as ‘temporary feeling or emotion’ but in a story, whether through literature or cinema, mood is more than that. It is the cold shiver you feel dance down your spine or the warm sensation you feel when everything goes right. Mood is how the story is written. The mood for our powerpoint is
Our conclusion, and I quote whoever wrote this: “I would recommend this play for other people because it is a funny and educational play to read.”
Core Competency Reflection
Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in my writing. Each word in the english language has a specific meaning and I generally intend to use them in a manner to describe my thoughts to the best of my abilities.
When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I take a break and drink water. Most likely, I start to get frustrated when I overwork myself and I start to get a headache from lack of water consumption.
An example of an idea I developed that was new to my peers was when I created a morphing title screen. This is a more advanced usage of PowerPoint that I was able to do that they haven’t seen before.
