There are many themes from the tempest that prompt one to think about their view on life. One theme that truly stuck out to me was the topic about forgiveness. This stuck out for me because it strengthened my beliefs. In the play, there are many events that illustrate possible revenge and taking “an eye for an eye.” However, the characters believe it is a better revenge to live a good life as evil will be punished for their doings alone in life. The play also demonstrates how if you don’t forgive someone, you can never have a good relationship with them. It also shows how forgiving others is good because we all make mistakes and one mistake shouldn’t define who we are. Therefore, if that mistake is forgiven, it will not define that person and both people will live a better life. Because of the examples above, it is more worth it in the long run to forgive one another and move on with our lives as opposed to revenge and returning evil doings.
