Slam Poem Presentation

  1. What went well? What are you proud of? After getting my main idea of age I wanted to do.  getting ideas for the presentation writing process was easier. Doing the presentation this time without messing up badly and remembering what I was saying in a broad spectrum. Not word for word but close to that. I am proud of completing this project on time, even if it was last minute.
  2. What could have been better? When I was reading it last minute most of it did not make sense, so trying to come up with words that fit into the sentences. was a bit challenging when I don’t know a lot of important and descriptive words to make it sound good. then it was stressful when the presentation was the next day.
  3. What will you differently next time? Getting the project done earlier is what I’ll do next. Instead of thinking, I have a lot of time to do the work and slowdown in my workout output in class. Also, not to forget my worksheet at home is very important. so, I do not have to do it again. Even if I was only a few sentences in.
  4. Which core competencies did you use in the poem creation and presentation process?  Critical and reflective thinking -when working on these poems we got feedback from our classmate to help us change and adapt our poems. I also got feedback from the LEC teachers on my poem to help me, change it and make more likable and presentable.  Communication-when giving feedback is hard you try not to hurt your classmates’ feelings telling them something is wrong with but you are also trying to help them create something better.

Jr. ES Core Competency Reflection

Core Competency Reflection

I use evidence to make judgements or decisions as demonstrated. At wild play i watch people go first and watch where they step and where they went learning from there mistakes. to be able to find my own route.

My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include. Going out in to outdoors and collecting evidence like going on a hike to find out different types of trees or plants or going outdoors observing birds.

Reflecting on My First Year

My Grade 9 Year

This year I learned that Being at a new school is hard. Having to make new friends due to the different blocks without the same friends. Finding friends that you can relate to and do activities together is hard because most people do illegal things. like vaping or stealing stuff from stores. I also learned you can never put enough evidence into your work. You need evidence for everything.  Even simple little questions

My Favorite Website

My favorite website this year was Wikipedia because it was where I went first at the start of any research project. Wikipedia is great if you want a summary of a lot of information. from Wikipedia you can go to different websites to research it deeper and for a specific part, but Wikipedia is where I started.

My Favorite Video

This video is one of many that is helping me out learn about engines. It is helping me out with power technologies 9.

My Favorite Image

This photo represents my hard work and dedication to myself and to my team for being the best grade 9 boys basketball team in the district. It shows once you set a goal you can reach it and go further. it’s biggest reward I’ve ever gotten.

My Favorite Quote

“If people did not do silly things, nothing intelligent would ever get done.”

Ludwig Wittgenstein

I chose this quote because it is a great representation of why nobody should be the same.

Core Competency Reflection

  1. I can think about what I am going to convey and to whom I will convey it. The ways I communicate at school differ from how I communicate outside of school in these ways: I chose this one because I have to be careful of what I say at school so it doesn’t get me in trouble and a place with all your buddies like an empty field you don’t have to worry about what you say.
  2. I can work with others to achieve a goal. One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to: briefly go over the project figure out what we are doing and making sure everybody knows
  3. I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way. Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in: slide 2 where there were a lot of repeating words and some questionable grammar so I talked to my group member about it and we changed it.
  4. I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others. An example of an idea I developed that was new to my peers is: when I drew up the first idea for the animal so my group had a brief representation of what we where presenting about

Advertisement Persuasion Project

My Advertisement

Persuasion and Advertisement Technique

Persuasion and Advertisement Unit Reflection

It is important to remember who benefits from the advertisement because the company get all your hard earned money. That’s why people say to support small businesses. One form of persuasion is a emotional. emotional is effective because it played with people’s emotions. like asking you to donate money to a hungry person is a emotional. Bandwagon Appeal is effective in selling a product because it tells you that everyone buys it so it’s good and you look like everybody else.

Core Competency Reflection

I selected images and words to create impact for my planned audience by going through my camera roll and selecting my image. I chose an image I took from a restaurant in Prince Rupert during a family road trip. I thought the image was great for the idea of being thristy.

One strategy or activity that stimulated my imagination on this project was when I was listening to the teacher talk about being able to choose anything. I guess I was thirsty so I chose to create an ad for a long lasting drink. So I wouldn’t be thirsty during the day.

I respectfully advocated for my needs on this project by asking my mum to help me understand the requirements again and again.

core competency reflection

one of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose

is to is to talk about what we’re doing and how we’re going to do it

I know the group is working well together when I hear/see

a lot of work getting done and the group is talking about the project

something i think about before dividing tasks among group members includes

what there strengths and what there weaknesses are and how well they do work

one goal I have is to work on communication

example of where I communicate clearly and purposely can be seen

well there’s no way they can see i communicated except for the project getting done. to help achieve the goal i will show where i communicated

ADL Financial Literacy

for my 80,000. 80000 is year 0. I put it in a 3-year GIC. after year 1 it equaled 83360 with an equation of 80,000*1.042. after year 2 I had 86861.12 with an equation of 83360*1.042. on year 3 I have 90509.28704 and the equation is 86861.12 *1.042. but I get 10000 every year. the 10,000 doesn’t start until year one. I put it in a year 1 GIC so I get 20350 after the 2-year mark. the equation is (10,000*1.035) + 10000. year 3 mark is 21062.25 the equation is 20350 *1.035 I do not multiply in 10000 because I get that year. so, it is in my savings. at the I add the 2 to get 121571.537.

ADL Financial Literacy

justification

I put it into a three-year GIC because a one-year GIC was only 3.5% back every year. And the three-year GI C was 4.2% every year. and if I put it into stocks, you must calculate one bad year and two good years which you can’t reach your goal with. And You have to do something with the $10,000 you get every year. Or you won’t be reaching your goal. When we were learning it in class, we didn’t do anything with the $10,000 so I put it into a one-year GIC every year. So, I did something with $10,000 you could put in savings, and it just sits there what you put into it one year dicey because it’s not possible to put it into a three-year GIC. but if you put it into stocks, I would have to calculate 2 good years and one bad year. Which isn’t possible because you get you the first $10,000 on the first year and then you get the next $10,000 on the second year, you get the last 10,000 on the third year and the third year where you end it’s not possible to that.

Collaboration

My collaboration as a group wasn’t the best, it could have been better. on the first half of the activity, it was very bad nobody talked to each other but at the end we came together as a group and worked together as best as possible. I didn’t try to organize the group nor did anybody else. working together Isn’t my favorite because I am heavily dyslexic my spelling skills are like a grade two level, so I use devices a lot to help, and I use speech to text a lot. So, working in a group I don’t bring a lot to the table in ways of helping out, but I do try the best I can. I help on question 2 and I did question 1. I compared answers for questions three and four with two other group members.

core competency

If I notice that they not being productive, that’s a sign that my group needs help, and we can get support by asking a teacher or another adult in the room to help us or chat to another group and see if they know how to help us

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by Participating in conversations and engaging with the class

Evidence that I can acquire information about complex and specialized topics from various sources, synthesize it, and present it with thoughtful analysis can be found in choosing how I did the project by listening to other people/sources I figured out what I want to do it that way

self-reflection

I needed to research the history about how it was discovered and who discovered it

And I needed to figure out the color, the boiling point, room temperature and what it was used for

I use PowerPoint I use Britannica and Wikipedia

I figured out Who made it and how credible they are and if others stay the same thing

The process of completing the challenge went pretty smooth i think i could have added some more information in some spots

When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I try to participate in the best way that I can. teacher has visual but on the group project I demonstrated teamwork and be able to work together to get a project done
