Xavier Morrison
science 10 – core competences reflection writing
A) – I consider alternative approaches and make strategic choices.
- I think I grew in this category, because this semester i believe I have taken a lot bigger steps moving forward in this semester than i have in any other class this year, i took more chances and i tried a new way of thinking, and a full new approach and because of that I’m pretty proud of my self.
– I take risks and recognize that I may not be immediately successful.
- i really like this one beacuse i feel this one connects to me the most, because it is true, i have taken many ricks and tried lots of new thing but i have come to realize that something you need to little more patient in than others.
B) – I take risks and recognize that I may not be immediately successful.
- again, same just like the other one i was just talking about, if you take a risk and it doesn’t go your way or you fail, trying again is the whole point, if you give up and throw in your gloves, then why even bother, trying again is not a bad thing, if you do you might get a different outcome.
– I examine my thinking, seek feedback, reassess my work, and adjust
- i love it when i get feedback, especially when I did good on a test but I didn’t understand one thing, and am able to solo it out and work hard on that one question or equation that i got wrong and be able to nail it the next time i try.
C) – I communicate confidently, using forms and strategies that show attention to my audience and purpose.
- In Science 10, I showed my learning through full sentence writing, point form notes, and using visuals like diagrams. I focused on making my answers clear and easy to understand. I was strongest at explaining ideas during group work and making sure my explanations fit the task and audience
– In discussions and conversations, I am focused and help to build and extend understanding.
- During class discussions and lab activities, I stayed focused and listened to others’ ideas. I added my own thoughts and asked questions to help deepen the conversation. Explaining my thinking out loud also helped me understand the science concepts better
D) – What is one thing you felt you have improved on this semester? (Does not have to be content based). How can you further use this strength in your next educational endeavour? (Ex. in any of the Science 11 courses)
- I can use this strength in future science classes by staying involved in group work and helping others understand the material.
E) – Are there any other comments on your experience in this course? (What did you like, what did would you prefer to be done differently, etc.)
One thing I would change is having more review time before tests to help me feel more prepared.
1) Attach a picture of one artifact to your post to support your ideas.
– This can be any assignment, project, quiz, test or lab that you feel represents a part of your learning and what you speak about in your post. Make at least one connection between your artifact and something that you wrote about in your reflection.
i could find any.
