Science 10

Xavier Morrison

science 10 – core competences reflection writing

A) – I consider alternative approaches and make strategic choices.

  •  I think I grew in this category, because this semester i believe I have taken a lot bigger steps moving forward in this semester than i have in any other class this year, i took more chances and i tried a new way of thinking, and a full new approach and because of that I’m pretty proud of my self.

– I take risks and recognize that I may not be immediately successful.

  • i really like this one beacuse i feel this one connects to me the most, because it is true, i have taken many ricks and tried lots of new thing but i have come to realize that something you need to little more patient in than others.

B) – I take risks and recognize that I may not be immediately successful.

  • again, same just like the other one i was just talking about, if you take a risk and it doesn’t go your way or you fail, trying again is the whole point, if you give up and throw in your gloves, then why even bother, trying again is not a bad thing, if you do you might get a different outcome.

– I examine my thinking, seek feedback, reassess my work, and adjust

  • i love it when i get feedback, especially when I did good on a test but I didn’t understand one thing, and am able to solo it out and work hard on that one question or equation that i got wrong and be able to nail it the next time i try.

C) – I communicate confidently, using forms and strategies that show attention to my audience and purpose.

  • In Science 10, I showed my learning through full sentence writing, point form notes, and using visuals like diagrams. I focused on making my answers clear and easy to understand. I was strongest at explaining ideas during group work and making sure my explanations fit the task and audience

– In discussions and conversations, I am focused and help to build and extend understanding.

  • During class discussions and lab activities, I stayed focused and listened to others’ ideas. I added my own thoughts and asked questions to help deepen the conversation. Explaining my thinking out loud also helped me understand the science concepts better

D) – What is one thing you felt you have improved on this semester?  (Does not have to be content based). How can you further use this strength in your next educational endeavour? (Ex. in any of the Science 11 courses)

  • I can use this strength in future science classes by staying involved in group work and helping others understand the material.

E) – Are there any other comments on your experience in this course? (What did you like, what did would you prefer to be done differently, etc.)

One thing I would change is having more review time before tests to help me feel more prepared.

1)     Attach a picture of one artifact to your post to support your ideas.
– This can be any assignment, project, quiz, test or lab that you feel represents a part of your learning and what you speak about in your post. Make at least one connection between your artifact and something that you wrote about in your reflection.

i could find any.

My First Year

My Grade 9 Year

This year, I really enjoyed meeting so many new people! all types of people, some were kind, some were shy, and some didn’t want anything to do with me. I still don’t regret meeting every one of them, especially the ones that came close to me.

I thought high school was going to be a train wreck, and it was, at the start, but once I got comfortable, it got way easier. I’m so glad that I was able to come to centennial.

My Useful Education Website

My dad always makes me use this website, at first, I didn’t like it, I still don’t, but it does help me with my work.

My Useful Educational Video

this video helped me understand how to make a human figure in art class, I really do enjoy art, it helps me calm down if I had a stress full day.

My Useful Educational Image

this was a real-life saver when I was working of elements in my science class.

My Inspirational Quote

quote: it’s not about your destination, it’s about the journey.

I love going for walks, if it in the afternoon, morning, midnight, I love them. seeing all the wonderful things, the sky, the trees. it’s so beautiful. it doesn’t even matter where i walk it’s all about the journey.

Core Competency Reflection

When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I…

  • get to know them first and see what there good at, then we discuss what we will work on together.

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to…

  • make sure everyone knows what to do we read over the instructions.

Examples of where I communicate clearly and purposefully can be seen in…

  • when I’m paying attention in class and I know what to do, and someone askes e what to do i can tell them an easy and understandable.

A Midsummer Night’s dream: The Movie Featuring: Lysander

Character, setting and mood

  • What did you learn about determining a character’s physical appearance? Explain how you figured out what your Avatar would look like. I determined my character by listening and reading the book and figuring out what they look like like by the way the talk and how the author described them.
  • What did you learn about determining the setting of a story? How did you apply this to choosing the images in your movie? the author talked a whole lot about their surroundings, so i had an imagine in my mind about how the setting was.
  • Explain what the word mood means in literature and movies. What mood did you decide on for your movie? Why did you pick the song that you picked? i picked my song because i thought the mood was more of an dramatic and cool type vibe.
  • Don’t forget a conclusion sentence (you can take one from your movie)! one thing i appreciate about the production of this play is how there is a play inside the play. this was cool because i had never seen/read something like this play. the audience that best suits this play would be an audience who would want a god laugh, in this play you can witness someone call her best friend a pole over a boy. this play is full of laughs and can make others feel better about their own lives.

core competency reflection

  • When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I… usually like to listen to music or talking a little break to draw or go on my phone for a few minutes.
  • When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I… when i went to a store with my friends, i saw the popcorn pack but it was a different flavored, it was sweet and salty. i got it and me and my friends ate them all. after they were finished and i had no more popcorn packets left, but i had normal popcorn packets with just butter, i decided to make the normal popcorn. then i had an idea to put cinnamon and sugar in my popcorn, it was really good, and i showed my friends and they all loved it.
  • Some skills I have developed to make my creative activities better are… i like to listen to my music and draw and i figured out that music really helps me get some new ideas.
