“A Spanish-Speaking Country”

“the name of your country”

Comparison to your home country”

Spanish and Filipino have a lot of very similar words together, because Philippines was colonized by Spain back in the day which represents my great understanding for Spanish. Spanish was one of the most fun and easiest languages that I have ever learned for that one reason because most of the time, we speak Filipino language in our home and it makes it a lot easier for me to understand some Spanish words and it was not very hard to adapt to the language and I would like to learn it a lot more. There are also some similar traditions between Spanish and Filipino cultures because Spanish were the ones who introduced Catholic to us which is our main region in our country. Both countries are also extremely competitive in sports but unlike Spain, Filipinos do not play Soccer/Football. Instead, we play Basketball because it entertains us and brings a lot of joy to the fans just like Soccer and it also gives us important life lessons like being a team player and trusting one another. Both Spain and Philippines have awesome landmarks that people should visit because both countries are beautiful and a lot of nature around them and one of the best landmarks to visit in the Philippines is El Nido Palawan because that place is surrounded by beautiful beaches and a great view of the ocean which is one of the best places to visit especially worldwide, it is a great place to stay with family and especially if you are a big fan of beaches. And a great landmark to visit in Spain is the Basilica La Sagrada Familia which is located in Barcelona and it is a Catholic Church and many people visit it because of it’s old age and it’s history and over millions of people visit it every year. Holidays are also important in all countries and one of the most common holidays between the two countries is Good Friday or Viernes Santo in both countries and it means people all celebrate it together with their families and either go to Church or do something else and it is usually held every April. Filipino people like to listen to folk music because it also has a huge influence from the Spanish culture which stuck for 333 years to Filipinos. It is also another reason why Philippines and Spain have a lot of similarities. For Art, the Spanish colonizers used Art as another tool to propagate the Catholic between beautiful images that were once done and they replaced the arts that were once done in a communal spirit and community setting for rituals. The church, particularly the friars, became the new patron of the arts. And my final statement for the two countries is they are both awesome and beautiful to visit and one day, I’m hoping to visit Spain so I could explore the country and travel all around the world and it seems like a great place to visit so I hope I could learn more about some history about Spain, and I’m also looking forward to enjoy learning Spanish because this course has been really fun for me and I can’t wait to get back to learning Spanish so I could communicate to other people who are speaking Spanish.

“Core Competency Reflection”

1)Communication:

I work with others to achieve a goal because we all want to succeed and at the end of the day, all it matters is just giving your 100 percent on everything that you do and just support one another no matter what happens because that is one of the best ways for you and your people to be successful. And it works because we are a team and we are very confident of our skills and abilities to be able to share information that we need to share.

2)Social Awareness and Responsibility

I’m always kind to others and support them especially when they really need it because no one is perfect and we will all make mistakes along the way, so the best way to deal with it is be kind to one another instead of making fun of somebody if you want to be successful at anything that you do. It feels great to support other people and it gives them a lot of confidence to get better and improve more instead of feeling shy and discouraged and that is one of the things that I always try to make sure when I join other people because it is a great feeling when they do the same thing that you do for them.

3)Creative Thinking

I deliberately learn about things that interest me, and new ideas pop up into my head, because I’m the type of person to get interested in something, then I would look it up all the time especially when I want to learn something about it and I just stick to it for a while. And throughout those interests, I can also create some creative ideas or plans through my mind and I would constantly be thinking about them especially in the future, but there is still quite a bit of way left before that happens. And when I get interested in something, that is my only focus and nothing else, but that does not mean I only have one interest, I have many but when something particular stands out to me, I just go on and look it up myself.

The goal the I want to accomplish is to be able to speak Spanish fully one day and it will take me a lot of time to practice but it is all worth it because I would be able to speak another language, and I could communicate to other people which is a great advantage to me because I could speak more than 3 languages and hopefully I can learn some more new languages in the future so I could have more options on what language I could speak because learning a new language is something that I would be very proud of and I also want to impress a lot of people that is the reason why I want to learn a new language.
