Cupcake Print Ad Reflection

Berrys & Batter print ad

My partner and I created a mock-up of a cupcake print ad for our fake business named Berries & Batter. We promoted cupcakes with flavourful fruit. Our cleaver logo represents the cupcakes toped with a berries. For our promotion in the print ad we had a 50% discount to our original price which was $2.50 – 50% = $1.25 for each cupcake.

“I give, receive and act on feedback to progress in my goals.” When working on a group project I was able to give and take feedback from my partner to finish the project.

“I think about what I am going to convey and to whom I will convey it to” In this project we needed to create a fake brand and make is look believable and real.

Understanding and using visual diagrams

Math is difficult for me, because I do better with visual learning I have learnt how to make my math easier using visual ways to think about things or getting a refresh of the formula. In the first photo its polynomials with algebra tiles, I liked using algebra tiles to do polynomials as a visual example of what I needed to do. In the second photo it was a notes page as a reminder of what to do next in equations. My strength is thinking about side of the box when things get difficult. But with doing this it helped me succeed in math and sometimes help my peers by showing them the way I see things because they are also visual learners.

I show this by making new ways or examples of learning by thinking outside of the box, this helps me face my challenges and overcome them. This is a opportunity for growth because I am able to finish my work and understand how to do the equations.

An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when our group wanted to use the switch, I suggested to attach the positive side to one of the sides on the switch and the negative part to the opposite side.

I know the group is working well together when I hear/ see everyone contributing and trying everybody’s ideas and trying to put them together to find the common goal.

Something I am looking forward to in Science 10 is to go more into depth on each subject we learn about. I can contribute to and work with criteria to improve my own work; evidence of that is when I think im finished my work I review it and change it accordingly.

Contract Law Storyboard Reflection

3 Competencies I demonstrated in this story board project were:

“I can develop a body of creative work over time.” I showed this by creating the story board and handing it in on time

“I persevere over time to develop my idea, and I expect setback and failure, but use that to develop my ideas.” I demonstrated this by having a hard time on trying to incorporate the different types of contracts in a smooth way.

“I can identify how my actions affect the community or environment and I can make positive change.” I learnt that my contracts I use day to day affect others and I will continue to use them positively.

My grade 9 year

For my first year of high school I would have never expected for everything to go so fast. High school is such a jump compared to middle school. I am so happy that I was able to make new friends and even connect with old ones from middle and elementary school, this has made my first high school year so much better. Through all the challenges of my first few weeks I was able to find an even balance between homework and friends. I found attending school events like football games, soccer games, the winter formal and the snowfall serenade have enriched my high school experience. Being apart of these events show the amazing school spirit and made me feel like I was really apart of centennials community. I feel like I’ve feel as I changed greatly from the beginning of the school year till now. I’ve learnt with my new freedom I have so much more responsibilities as in having all your homework done and handed in, getting to all your classes on time and even studying for tests and quizzes far more often. If I needed to tell anyone that’s going into their first year of high school, I would tell them to be ready for much more work, in middle school you think that your can just do all your work at home, but in high school you need to use all available times, use flex and do your work in class.

Starting my second semester with math I completely forgot how to do exponents. Rewatching this video from grade 8 gave me a clear refresher on how to do exponents.

This quote is by one of my favourite artist. The quote “Don’t wait for the tide just to dip both feet in” is telling you to take action (dip both feet in) and stop waiting for the perfect time or circumstance (tide).

Persuasion and Advertising Learning Reflection

a. Which advertising technique did you choose and how did you use that technique to create your poster?

The advertisement technique I used was the bandwagon. I showed that I used the bandwagon technique by saying “everyone” a lot meaning the general public. Hopefully making the buyer feel that everyone else is using this product, so they would want to use is to.

b. Explain how and why you chose the colours, words, background, etc. that you used to make your advertisement.

I choose a black background to contrast to the white product, I wanted the bubble graphics because the product is a foaming cleanser. The words I had used included everyone saying lots of people use this product. Making people feel that they should buy this product to fit in.

c. What do you think others who aren’t in your class should know about advertising?

Advertising products are simple. Its nice to stick to the theme of your product or company with colours quotes and more. Also psychology is a big part of advertisement most of the time when you walk into store product they want to sell they put at eye level of the customers, everything is done a certain way for the reason of wanting you to buy their product. So you want lots of the little details to somehow promote your product.

One strategy or activity that stimulated my imagination on this project was the creative part of this project, I enjoyed making and designing the poster.

I made sure to re-write the information in my own words. Making the words my own.

I did not agree with my argue because my partner made a lot of valid points causing me to think non-violence is better.

I can recognize different points of view and can disagree respectfully. I chose this competency because Anaya and I were having trouble choosing a animal. We where able to take each others ideas and find one that we can both agree on.

I can work with others to achieve a goal. My partner and I achieved the goal of agreeing on any two animals and combined the two.

I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others. Anaya had the idea of a wasp, I had an idea of a rolly-pollie we built the idea of having the pieces of the two bugs and how it was created.

I can identify my strengths and identify my potential. I identified my strengths by knowing how to come up with an idea in my head and put it on to paper/create the same idea into real life.
