Creative Thinking Skills

I showed creative skills in this project by making a unique but creepy plant pot. I worked hard to showcase small details on the dolls face. I was inspired and drew the plan in October, around halloween time.

Managing your time.
I chose time management as a positive skill I have learned because LEC has given me a time to dedicate to my work. Having after school activities and a job can sometimes make it hard to fit in a time to do my school work. I am not behind in any of my classes because of LEC. Next semester when I don’t have LEC, I want to use this skill to find a time to dedicate to my school work. I like feeling balanced with my work and I am trying to unlearn procrastinating. I will most likely dedicate this time after school or before school at the library to put me in an environment that gets me to work.
I can identify ways in which my strengths can help me meet challenges, and how my challenges can be opportunities for growth.
I felt really burnt out from last year because of the work load and how stressful my school year was. This year I knew my work load would be much more manageable and I want to use this opportunity to find a balance through trial and error. From what I have learned, I don’t work great at home because there are a lot of distractions. Instead of forcing myself to do school work at home, I have dedicated LEC and a time after school at the library to do my work. These environments don’t have any distractions for me and I am most efficient in these places. I still have more to learn, such as studying for tests, but I have been trying different methods to see what works best for me.
I chose the core competency personal identity because this project was Ill about creating a box that reflected my identity. I chose a nature theme because I love nature and I have a lot of plants of my own. I put a gecko figure at the top because I have a pet gecko named Bagel and he is an important animal in my life. I have had Bagel since I was in 8th grade. The little pieces that were meant to go inside were not baked , but it was me on a bed wearing headphones, my pet snake, Aero, and some tiny plants. I out myself on a bed with headphones because I am a sleepy person and I also love music.
I chose the core competency collaboration because in this class, we do a lot of group and class discussions. The assignment that i chose to reflect on is the TR calls to action assignment. I was put in a group and we had to look at the different call to actions for the Indigenous community in Canada. As a group, we all shared our thoughts and ideas. Everyone got a turn to speak and share what they think. We worked together as a group to complete the assignment. I learned to communicate and work with other people during this assignment.
Critical and Reflective Thinking
This is my dichotomous key project. I worked on this alone, so I had to do the planning and thinking by myself. I demonstrated critical thinking by sorting through the buttons and finding traits that made them unique and distinguished them from each other. I made some errors but I checked over my work many times to correct them. In a way, it was challenging because I had to keep re-checking my work to make sure it led to the correct button and that every single button had an end to go to. Besides learning to categorize and sort through the buttons, I also learned to have patience with these small, detailed tasks and to take my time. I will use these skills for future work and continue to make them stronger.
