Show and Tell Presentation Reflection and Self-Assessment

Curricular Response

The greatest strength of my presentation was the information that I had presented from the show vs the real world. I talked about the technologies that are now in use or being developed in our real world that is presented in the show’s episodes. I finished my presentation with connections back to fear and stated that Black Mirror isn’t necessarily a horror show but does stop to make you think about mankind and if we take a particular course we will become entrapped and terrorized by our own uses of technology.

Next time, if I could represent my show and tell, I would want to ask more questions in the future, I think that I wasn’t as engaged with the class as I should have been. Another factor in my fear of public speaking, I talked too fast and stumbled over my words when speaking and even forgot to show the trailer to the show. I don’t know what I could have done to have relaxed but I think that when I didn’t face the audience, I felt a little calmer.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

When I first chose my topic, I went from wanting to talk about the Uncanny, but after researching it, I didn’t feel very connected to the topic even though it was interesting. After scrolling on social media, I had seen a black mirror-related video that made me think about what I was doing in the moment, scrolling on my phone mindlessly. I then looked back on the episodes that I had watched way back ago and thought that this would be a perfect topic for my show and tell. After some research, I put together my presentation and presented it to my friends a couple of times days before my presentation.

Well before starting my topic, I watched a couple of videos and even some episodes that I thought related to real life. I collected a few episodes and researched real-world problems that connected with the episode’s premise.

Self-Assessment of core competencies/psyche 12

I take on roles and responsibilities in a group and do my share by doing the work that I was assigned and finishing them on time so that it doesn’t affect our grades or work.

I am kind to others and support others when they need it by building off their ideas and asking questions, if something is unknown I will work with them and we will find out information together and learn what we didn’t know.

I find it easy to be part of a group since I enjoy working with others and collaborating on ideas. I find it nice to have someone who can correct me or build off my ideas.

I encourage others to share their voices and value diverse perspectives because I like to hear other people’s opinions and talk about different perspectives from my own, I believe that everyone’s voices and ideas should be heard. I don’t force, but defiantly encourage others to speak up about something that they believe in or want to say.
