Anatomy and Physiology 12 Core Competencies

Communication and Collaboration

In the lab I got to utilize my communication skills while doing the big dissection. My partner and I talked to each other about what roles each of us would be playing and how we can make the lab go by smoothly. We collaborated while trying to find different parts of the pig my partner and I had to express out opinions on where we thought the places were and if we agreed or disagreed with each other.

Group Work in Math

Pros and Cons for Group Work

Pros: Being able to collaborate and communicate with others, sharing responsibility with others.

Cons: Some people may not put in the same amount of effort as other people.

One of the ways I ensure my group is clear on the common purpose is to…

  • find someone in the group to lead and makesure everyone is sure of their role and what they need to do.

If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to

  • reassure every member and make sure everyone is putting in equal amount of effort and nobody feels like they are doing too much.

If I notice …, that’s a sign that my group needs help and we can get support by…

If I notice my group is not getting a lot of work done and is procrastinating a lot that’s a sign my group needs help and we can get support by working together at the same time but all individually on our own portion that way we can get work done and get feedback at the same time from other members.

I learned that working in a group is easier as everyone can get ideas of others and the work is split up. Though most of the time I do enjoy working alone for projects I really liked working and presenting as a group for this project.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

Creative Thinking

I have chosen to reflect on the final virus project. I knew this project was going to be fun since I saw the last semesters projects in the hall. My partner and I chose to do Zika Virus, I did a project on it a few years ago so I thought it would be helpful if I already knew some information. This project let me and my partner express different ideas on how we thought our diagram and pamphlet would look like. We also took the time to divide our work equally. We split the research between us and had documents shared so that we could check up on each other. When it came to the diagram we thought of what we could use to resemble the look that the zika virus had and it was really fun to try and be creative with our materials. If I were to do this again I wish we didn’t leave the diagram till the last minute and that we could’ve gotten a copy of the pamphlet in colour.

The History Of My Birthday

My birthday is on December 4th, and when i looked up my birthday on “This Day In History” only one special thing in history showed up. On December 4, 1991 Terry Anderson, an american journalist, was finally released from 2,454 days in captivity. He was kidnapped on March 16, 1965
by Islamic militants, when he was leaving a tennis court . His kidnappers took Terry to an underground dungeon and he was held prisoner there for six and a half years. Anderson was not the only person held captive, there were 91 other prisoners, including 17 other Americans. Iran used its influence in Lebanon to help free most of the prisoners over the course of 1991.

I chose this picture because it reminds me of one of the best experiences in my life. This photo was taken by me on our plane ride to San Francisco. Going to San Francisco was am amazing first time experience for me. I went to an aunts reception, and later flew on another plane to Anaheim California, to go to Disneyland! After three amazing and tiring days of Disneyland, we drove to L.A. for a fantastic final day at Universal Studios
