Cooking at Home Option 4

The skill I chose was to improve my cutting skills with a kitchen knife, I wanted to improve on my cutting skills because its very important in cooking, to know how to properly hold a knife and cut. I used Youtube and watched a video on basic knife skills to help me improve. I made baked salmon, and cut up mushrooms and peppers to add onto the salmon. My advice would be to make sure you have a nice sharp knife so it cuts through food easily. As well as holding the knife between your thumb and pointer finger and use a rocking motion when cutting your food. A challenge I went through was getting comfortable with the way I was holding the knife. At first I wasn’t cutting the peppers very nicely, but as I practiced more, I got the hang of it and they started looking a lot better. My greatest success was cutting the vegetables to be all similar sizes because I felt like I improved lots. I’m also proud of the end product because, the salmon, peppers and mushrooms tasted really good.
