My Reflection
Tim Burton, in Edward Scissorhands, used lighting in order to manipulate the feeling of every scene to what he wants it to be. For example, when Edward walks down the street destroying everything in a fit of rage. The lighting is dark and creates a sinister feeling that encapsulates the audience. Or when we are first introduced to Edward in the castle, He is too dark to see his face making the scene mysterious and intriguing. I think that Tim Burton wants the audience to see the emotion on the actors’ faces by specifically lighting up their faces. Like at the climax when Edward stabs and throws Jim out of the castle, everyone’s face is lit up to show their expressions. Other than their faces, the scene was very low-key overall. In Conclusion, Tim Burton is very thoughtful and precise about where he places specific elements in his films.
This adaptation from film to visual novel taught me to use my creativity more and problem solve a bit when thing’s didn’t work out how I wanted them to.
