The game my partner and I decided to play was Connect 4, Connect 4 is a game where the objective is to form a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line of four chips/tokens. A strategy that I started out with at first was trying to block my partner from making certain moves, this strategy was only effective for a little while until it started to become hard to make moves in order to win the game. Since this strategy became shortly ineffective i had to find another strategy, the next strategy i decided to go with was paying close attention to the moves my partner was making. Paying close attention to the moves my partner was making helped me find a way to not only win the game but to do it successfully without any difficulties. For example, if my partner were to make their move, I would adjust mine accordingly in order to out-smart them and win that round of the game.
Some patterns that i noticed when playing Connect 4 were my paterns placement choices, I noticed that my partner would like to place their chips diagonally or horizontally during rounds of the game. Again I would pay close attention to this predictable behavoiur and would continue placing my chips in the right places and winning each round with my new successful strategy.
“Rules I could generalize to someone to do well at the game” would be, always make sure you watch what your partner is doing. Sometimes your partner can be sneaky and try to distract you by placing their chips in different areas of the board making you think their going to place their chips there instead of the most obvious choice that would give them away easily. Another thing that will help you win the game is to plan out your moves ahead of time before playing, planning out your moves ahead of time allows you to become prepared and confident when playing the game. It can also be used as an intimidation tactic against your partner, making them question their own placemnet choices.
