Drama 12 and Core Competencies
In drama 12, communication was vital in order to discuss the themes in the work we read and then performed.

To connect with the theme of Positive Personal and Cultural Identity, the grade 9 students in Drama 9/10 were instructed to memorize half of a scene from A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare, and to write a corresponding half to end the scene with, which I would then coach and polish as a student director. Moreover, they were told to direct it towards a specific demographic. Some of the demographics included French, Russian, Italian, and Australian culture. The adaptations were extremely impressive, all the while being respectful to all cultures portrayed.
Reflection:
How I figured out if the information I gathered was reliable was by checking multiple sites. If I saw on multiple sites that an event happened on the same day every time, I know its reliable. I chose to use Sway because I’m familiar with the program, and I didn’t want to create an account for anything. Also, I personally like interactive projects like Sway presentations because you can move down on the page to keep reading. I’m very happy with the end result of my design. It took a lot of time to make and I’m proud of it. To refine my assignment in the future, I would have gotten more of it done at school instead of having to do so much of it at home.
Reflection:
I think what is innovative about my visual presentation is that every slide looks different from one another and not just the same colors and fonts on every page. I generated ideas when working on this project by thinking, “If I were to read this book, what I would want it to look like and what order the pages would be.” What I like about my visual representation is that it’s filled with color. Color makes everything look more interesting. What I would improve on next time is maybe taking advantage of class time more, even though I worked on it a lot in class, I could have probably gotten more done. I learned that I can be creative enough to make the project that I pictured in my head into a reality. The platforms like Powerpoint and Flipsnack definitely make it a lot easier.
