The info I gathered mainly comes from sites that are well known and claimed to be very useful. Any sources that have been claimed to store fake info is a no for me. I use small chunks of info to communicate as it’s not as tedious as writing something like a 3-page paragraph.  I was satisfied with my design although I could’ve added a bit more detail to my timeline. Now of course, sometimes simple is good. I might take more time to add detail to my timeline or choose a better program from making timelines.

My Digital Footprint

The one thing in my digital footprint that contributed to the online community is the time when I made my own website using Wix, a free website builder. The website had a bit of info about me, but I took it down because it did contain some private info (although I’m not sure if the private info was actually private, but still). Control of identity applies to some parts of my footprint where I make my identity a secret, and only telling non private info about myself. Beacuse who knows who could be lurking on the web. On the web, I share info only to people that I’m familiar with, and the info I’m sharing is just some small stuff about me. When I comment on something, I know it’s a bad idea to post something that could attack or offend other people, so I mainly post small comments on stuff. There is a website that gathers a large group of fans for a particular movie, video game, etc.

If I ever consider moving schools, The teachers and principals there could look me up and decide that I’m allowed to move into this school. Or there could be negative things about me leaked so they could second thoughts.

When the time has come to look for a post secondary school appliction, the school I’m attending will probably look me up and figure that I would be good for them. Or they might reject me due to something I posted that they won’t like.

Someone might look me up and realize there is hardly any bad things that I’ve posted. Therfore there might be a good chance I might be accepted into whatever I’m planning to attend or join. Or, that person could maybe dig deeper and have second thought relating to the bad things I’ve left online, even if there’s a very few.

I sometimes doubt that my family and friends will actually dig up my digital footprint, but who knows? Maybe one day they will actually look me up and find my digital footprint and stuff. Or they will just leave it like the way it was.

Speech unit reflection

If there was one thing that I learned, is that I know Google Scholar exists and how some of it works. It’s pretty much Google but scholarly related.  When I didn’t find what I want, I tried rewording what I wanted to search. Most of the time it gave me accurate results.  Most of the sources I used are just journals about health and stuff. Well, I guess because my speech IS based off health. Isn’t it? I could try typing in more complex stuff so I could get more detailed results for my research next time.

Self profile

My name is Tim Peng. I am 14 years old and I’m born on March 27th, 2005. I was born in Richmond but my family is from Beijing, China. Richmond is where I had preschool and kindergarten, and I made good friemnds there. However, after 2 years, my parents decided to move to Coquitlam. I have no idea why, because my parents never told me the real reason. A few weeks after we moved into our new house, I was taking a walk with grandma and that’s when we’d found an elementary school a few minutes away from my house. And that’s where I had my elementary school through 1st grade to 5th grade.

I was a bit sad to see my old friends go, but I decided to accept it and make new friends at my new school. By 3rd grade, I had many playdates and a sleepover after knowing my new friends for almost 2 years. Sone of them went to a new school when middle school started, but some of them went to the same middle school (Monty middle) as me.

Today, I still have some classmates from my middle school in some of my classes, and maybe, I could still meet some of my old friends in college or university. Or we could go towards our own separate paths that could lead us to something we never knew existed or was even possible. Now of course, if I ever get lucky in a certain way I could potentially meet one of my old friends back in middle school, high school, or even elementary school.

Even though I enjoy living in Coquitlam, I sometimes miss being in Richmond, because my parents used to take me to a shopping center when I was still a toddler. I used to ride my bike to a nearby park where I would play until 5 PM in summer vacation, and I could meet new friends there. However, me currently living in Coquitlam also has its own advantages. I currently live in a house with a pool so I could go swimming in summer, even though the water is very cold sometimes.

In the future, I could either get a job in Coquitlam and live my life to the fullest here, or I could revisit my childhood place back in Richmond, if those places still exist, of course.

  1. What is innovative about your visual representation?

I’m not so sure, but I think it has something to do with the fact that you just have to accept that one day your friends will not be with you anymore.

2. How did you generate and develop your ideas while working on this project?

I just came up with a bunch of random ideas and somehow found the prefect one.

3. What did you enjoy about your visual representation?

I enjoyed writing the self profile because once you start writing it’s hard to stop (unless you start running out of ideas).

4. What would you improve on for next time?

I would possibly make some parts longer like the ending.

5. What did you learn about your creative ability during this process?

I learned how to use some advanced words that make my writing a bit more interesting.
