The Writing Process

Overall, the book review was pretty straightforward and I chose one of my favourite books to do the report on. The time given for the assignment was plenty, so I was able to bit by bit over the course of one month. My favourite part of the assignment was that I got to read the book all over again, but this time in detail because I have to look for specific parts to quote on my book report. My least favourite part was the presentation bit. I have always struggled with presenting in front of the class and it was difficult this time for me too.

Core Competency Reflection

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I leave my desk for a bit and walk to grab some water.

-This book report took a bit of time to finish and I often found myself not able to focus as well when working on it non-stop for too long. Usually, after I take a short walk and get some water, it boosts my ability to focus again.

Evidence that I can acquire information about complex and specialized topics from various sources, synthesize it, and present it with thoughtful analysis can be found in this book report.

-Using information from the book The Art of Racing in the Rain I was able to acquire information, synthesize it and present it using my own words.

An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about is how to analyze a novel.

-In this book report, in addition to reading the book, I also had to analyze parts of the novel to gather information. This is something I improved on during this book report.

-During the presentation I was not able to communicate well with the class because of my shaky voice and stuttering. In the future, I hope to do more presentations to overcome this.
