For my psychology 12 research project me and my group chose to create a survey testing whether or not people benefit from a longer sleep. I believe my group and I reflected the core competency collaboration because we worked together, developed and built on each others ideas.
During the beginning of my crew neck sweater project I used the step-by-step booklet to help me construct the sweater. When it came time to sew the ribbing I realized there were no instructions for that which led me to use my creative thinking to find out how to sew the ribbing on. It did take me some time but after looking at the demo sweater I was able to figure out on my own how to sew the ribbing on. By using my creative thinking I challenged myself and was able to solve the problem on my own instead of asking others for help or watching YouTube tutorials.
My Artifact: Wrap Skirt
During this project I ran into some issues along the way that made me use my creative and critical thinking skills. Half way through this project I realized my skirt wasn’t big enough to fit me, so to solve this problem I decided to add another panel to the skirt despite what the pattern said. This did fix the issue but I noticed that my skirt would no longer fasten the way it was supposed to. I then added a second button and completed my project successfully. Even though I did not follow the pattern fully I was able to think outside of the box and use my critical and creative thinking skills when I ran into problems. During this project I also gained more experience in sewing buttons and using the serger, but I would like to continue working on my overall neatness.
