The Lab 19C was about determining an approximate Ksp value for PBI2 at room temperature. During the lab, I collaborated with my partners and shared our observations. Test tubes A, B, C, and D have ppt form (yellow), whereas E and F have not changed at all. We also observed what temperature caused the precipitate in each test tube to dissolve, as shown in the photo. One person swirls the test tubes until they dissolve, while another records the temperature. I also cleaned the materials because we didn’t have enough time. I demonstrate my appreciation for feedback from others in my group by actively listening and asking questions. After the lab, we had to finish the observations&data paper. I didn’t know how to calculate Trial Ion Product, so I asked one of my partners and she told me how to. However, I was still not sure, so I asked again and found out there was a mistake. We fixed together and helped each other.

Throughout this diffusion lab, I analyzed evidence and reflected on my thinking. When I looked at the results (after 24 hours), I wondered how it happened, why it swelled, and if there was any difference that I missed. I gathered information and researched diffusion further based on what I had learned. Many evidences, such as the mass of the tubings, volume of the beakers, and colour changes, helped me in considering and investigating the topic of diffusion. After I finished analyzing the evidences, I had to write a conclusion that included all of the information that I had gathered. To convince others or myself of my observations, I had to reflect on my opinions and develop my thoughts.

I worked with four partners during this lab in Anatomy and Physiology class, pairing two people for each part. To achieve our goal, we needed to collaborate and accept responsibility. We asked questions and helped each other when we didn’t know how to proceed with our experiment. We communicated in a clear and organized manner. For example, we discussed what the initial mass of the solution in the tubing of part A is and what the biggest difference is between initial observations and after 24 hours observations. We tried to make sure we both knew what was happening before moving on to the next step to avoid misunderstandings. When we work together with people, communication is critical. It would be highly beneficial to have confidence, oral skills, and listening skills when conversing with others.

Core Competency Reflection

When I need to boost my mood or re-focus, I go for a walk. Walking is a good way to relax my mind and improve my mood. Also, I eat sweet desserts or snacks to help me re-focus on my work. It reduces stress and enhance feelings of calmness and contentment. My hand was shaking as I worked on Where the Blood Mixes – Graphic Novel, and I regretted not using technology to complete the assignment.

Some skills I have developed to make my creative activities better are asking my friends. I wasn’t sure what hues to use, so I asked a friend who enjoys drawing and painting. When I couldn’t figure out how to sketch the characters’ expressions, I took her for help. I also tried to consider many factors differently.

Some of the things I do to stay mentally and physically healthy include planning my schedule effectively, taking a deep breath and setting aside alone time. I made an effort to give myself some time to think about additional creative concepts while I was working on the project and feeling stressed.

My goal is more paying attention to the First Peoples’ and other cultures for myself going forward. To do that, I’m going to listen their words and stories carefully.

About the activity

In this project, a scenario of a divorcing couple was provided. It covered each party’s information and desires, such as employment, wages, properties, children, and so on. We had to start negotiating with a partner in order to reach a separation agreement. We had to take notes during the negotiation on how we would reply and the calculations we made. After we reached a separation agreement, we were required to complete a reflection.

I can take on roles and responsibilities in a group and do my share. I communicated my thoughts and feelings to my partner as we worked on the project. I participated and fulfilled my responsibilities.  

I can analyze evidence to make judgments. I tried to provide evidence when making judgments. I did not insist on my own desires. I listened to and accepted my partner’s advice.

I can express my wants and needs and celebrate my efforts and accomplishments. I chose this approach because I was proud of myself at the end of the negotiation and satisfied with the outcome. Therefore, I negotiated what I wanted and explained why and why my opinion was justified.

I can identify my personal characteristics and explain what I care about. For example, I completed a project reflection after the parting negotiation with my partner. Before participating in this project, I thought I hated talking and was not good at expressing myself, but during the negotiation, I realized that I was enthusiastic and enjoyed negotiating.

I can communicate clearly using practiced formats and strategies on topics I know and understand well. I am working on this goal because I need to be more confident when expressing my opinions and participating in group discussions. To accomplish this goal, I will participate and focus on group work.

This is an assignment in which I have to analyse a specific photograph and apply my knowledge of composition. When I looked at this photo, I noticed patterns, balance, and proportion. I can simply explain how I felt about the photograph and why. I put my new fascinating ideas to use. I felt accomplished when I discovered certain compositions on the shot.

I can get new ideas to create new things or solve straightforward problems. My ideas are fun, entertaining, or useful to me and my peers and I have a sense of accomplishment. I discovered a product with poor marketing. I gathered information and tried to solve the product’s problems. I connected old data to new ideas to improve the product. Using Canva, I designed four advertising posters. I used the Heinz brand’s official logo colours, emblem, and unique images in the posters. For this assignment, I considered the many views and the significance of the product.

About the Criminal Inquiry Project

The Criminal Inquiry Project is researching and gathering information about the inquiry question. We had to choose inquiry topic first, before exploring our inquiry question. In our essay, we had to include future considerations, significance, solutions and citations for our inquiry question.

Core Competency Reflection

  1. I can ask open-ended questions and gather information. I chose this one because I was interested in hearing opinions and thought of others. During the project, I wanted to know how my family and friends were thinking about my inquiry question. I listened closely to their thoughts and accepted them respectfully.
  2. I can reflect on and evaluate my thinking, products, and actions. When I was done with the project, I had to complete the self-assessment and answer the reflection questions. I read my essay and fixed some errors before handing it in. I evaluated my ideas, strengths and weaknesses for the project honestly.
  3. I can use strategies to find peace in stressful times. During the project, I struggled with my grammar and writing skills. When I was stressed, I asked my friends for help and went for a walk with listening to my favourite playlist. I tried to control my feelings.
  4. I have interests and passions that I pursue over time. I really enjoyed working on this project because it allowed me to solve my curiosity. I could create my own inquiry question that I had been wondering about. I wanted to expand on my thoughts and share what I discovered.

  1. 2005: “There’s just no that many videos I want to watch.” – Steve Chen, CTO and co-founder of YouTube expressing concerns about his company’s long term viability. Why do you think YouTube is still popular all these years later?

YouTube is a trendy social media platform that communicates with people all over the world by uploading and sharing videos. This app was launched on February 14, 2005 which is currently owned by Google. There are many useful and effective apps, but YouTube is the only app that can learn new things easily such as culture, education and movie. Also, most people think YouTubers make enough money, if they have a lot of subscribers and views, thus; people want to be YouTuber which means the number of people using this platform is increasing. The content on YouTube is free and simple to handle.

2. I can examine evidence from various perspectives to analyze and make well-supported judgments about and interpretations of complex issues.

I analyzed the question above from various perspectives such as YouTubers and people who watches videos. Moreover, I made well-supported judgements and interpretations of complex issues. For instance, I explained reasons about why YouTube is still popular. The reasons are valid and helpful.

Natural Selection Critical Thinking Self-Assessment

  • I demonstrated that I can collect and analyze evidence when I strongly understood the Natural Selection lab’s introduction and procedure before we start the lab, and recorded the results about Feeding Frenzy lab. I participated, and communicated with my group for collecting the data. I was able to explain genetic variation, changes in the environment, struggle for survival, over production of offspring and natural selection after finished the experiment.
  • I demonstrated that I can connect evidence I collected to big ideas when I answered the following questions such as explain the relationship between predator and prey and data of results. In the class, I learned about crysis, mimcry and aposematic coloration. I can linked them together to the experiments.
  • I demonstrated that I can make predictions based on evidence when I was doing the Natural Selection lab. There are red and black licorice pieces and 3 colour papers. (black, white and red) It was difficult to pick up the red prey on the piece of red paper, but it was easy to pick up the red prey on the black and white papers. Also, in the Feeding Frenzy lab, I predicted some feeding mechanisms (broken fork, broken spoon, long and short chopsticks) could be hard to adapt to specific feeding area or some feeding mechanisms could live simply. For instance, broken fork is best suited for puffy wheat because it is easy to poke. The feeding mechanisms would leave and find somewhere else. This could lead to the development of new species.
  • I demonstrated that I can draw reasoned conclusions when I completed the lab and following questions. I learned Darwin’s theory of natural selection and methods of organism survival. Moreover, I understood the general steps for the formation of new species.

Vertical and Horizontal lines

The difference between vertical and horizontal

The slop describes the steepness and direction of a line. To find the slop of a line, divide the vertical change by the horizontal change. An equation is m = vertical change / horizontal change. (rise / run) Moreover, We refer to the x-values as the domain and y-values as the range. A function is a special type of relation. If x-values(x1) goes to both y-values (y1 and y2), it is not a function.

The equation of a vertical line is x = number(#). It goes from top to bottom and bottom to top. If the line goes through the point (2,-3), the equation of a vertical line is x = 2. Also, we can call an undefined slope.
