when i need to boost my mood or re focus i take some deep breaths and start reading the materials to try and understand what it is im supposed to be doing.
to celebrate an accomplishment such as finishing the assignment i give myself breaks before starting the next question or assignment.
i respectfully advocate for my needs by raising my arm and asking for help on a question that i dont understand
a goal that i have later in the semester is to ask for more help when i need it instead of sitting quietly and not doing anything.
this is my project on the battle of Salamis. me and my partner worked together to put the project together and communicated a lot throughout the project. Throughout the project sometimes it was hard to communicate as sometimes there were times when we miscommunicated and missed the timings we set resulting in somethings not getting fully done and having to complete the project the night before and the day of. We overcame these problems by talking and texting each other to find out how we were going to finish the project and present it. A strength I had during this project was the research component, i was able to look through sources and put that information into our project while expanding on it, a struggle i faced while working on this project was communication, while working on this project we had difficulties working out when to work on the project and who was doing what part.
My strategies for collecting relevant information for specific tasks include looking for websites and comparing them to see if the information from a website is correct. a strength in this area was gathering relevant information and comparing them to other websites, an area where i think i need to improve was properly putting that information into the project while properly explaining what it meant.

I can show a sense of accomplishment and joy. I take pride in my work and myself. Showing how I can find joy in different things even if it did not turn out how I planned it to.
This photo of my artifact shows how all of us were able to ask questions to further understand what to do and complete the conversation in a timely manner. During this time I was able to listen to the ideas my seatmates had and give my input, doing this helped strengthen our ideas on how to put the sentences together and who was going to say what in order for it to make sense. This artifact shows the thoughts that went into creating the sentences and who was going to take what lines so that the conversation would be able to flow smoothly without any problems as sometimes the criteria requires a certain amount of lines for each person in order for everyone to be marked fairly and show their understanding of how to put the sentences together. Doing and creating this conversation allowed me to look over the criteria and follow it properly in order to complete it accordingly, while looking over the criteria for the conversation I am able to make judgements and give ideas to create a prompt to work off of. Even though I might not get the best marks on the tests/quiz’s I am still able to work from it and use it as my motivation to do better and work towards whatever’s next in the class, being able to find a sense of joy and accomplishment helps me by being able to show positivity in the not so good times and having that mindset can help me focus on other important things or give my full focus and try better for whatever is next.
I demonstrated creative thinking with this project by carefully thinking about what i want my project to look like and how i want to structure it. Planning how i want to paint the design and how i want it to look like took some thinking and some sketching, even though the design itself is simple the way i want it to look is not as easy as i wanted to change some parts so i had to keep re sketching my design to fit it to my imagination. Some skills i think got better with this project was my painting, even though it’s simple i had to sketch everything out first including the circle in the middle and the headphones and the music notes, i had to paint these with a very fine and thin brush in order to not go over the sketched lines i had. I think a skill i want to continue to grow in is sewing, because this was my first time using a sewing machine my seams were not as straight and even as i wanted them to be so if i ever use another sewing machine in the future i would like to grow in this department.
I chose this card because during this project I was able to communicate with others and get different ideas to help me create this card. The making of this card had lots of thinking go into it as I wanted this card to follow a certain theme so I looked up different things relating to that theme in order to create it. All of the drawing in this card were thought about and placement of each drawing had thought go into it so that the card looks like the theme I wanted, even when I thought about certain drawings going into this project not every drawing worked so I had to erase and re think about the drawings and how much space I had left on the card and I also had to think about the placements of the next drawing I wanted to put.

I demonstrated my creative thinking skills doing this project by building on different ideas and merging them together to create one big idea that fits the theme I want. I can persevere over time and take time to develop and think of new ideas that can help me create the image I have in my head. I can expect setbacks and failure but can use those setbacks and failures to retry and think about if this would work or if i want to change a design but still have it fit the theme that I want. An example of where I built off of someone else’s ideas is when I was asking my friend about what else I could add or what I can change and I used there suggestion and built off of it to create a card that fits more of what I wanted.
I can identify my strengths and limits, find internal motivation, and act on opportunities for self-growth by working on different equations and seeing which ones I find harder to answer. I can find internal motivation by telling myself that its almost done and that I can work on other things once I am done.
the most popular sport in Brazil is Soccer with a famous athlete being Neymar, in Canada the most popular sport is Ice Hockey with a famous athlete being Wayne Gretzky. Landmarks in Brazil are Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf mountain both in Rio De Janerio, in Canada some famous landmarks are the CN tower in Toronto and the Canadian Rockies in BC. I would like to visit Brazil some day, learning about Brazil peaked some interest.

I can understand and share information about a topic in a clear and organized way by talking slow and asking if they understand what I am talking about. If I don’t understand something that my partner shares I ask them to try and explain it slower.
I can build off of others ideas, if my partner suggests something I can think and add on to the idea they preposed. My partner can suggest something and ask if I want to add anything onto it, if I don’t add anything onto it then we use the idea as is
I can work with others to achieve a goal, it doesn’t matter who my partner is I would like to work together to get a good mark. When I work with someone I don’t know or someone I don’t talk to a lot I still try to work with them so I can get a good mark on whatever project we are doing.
I can ask and respond to questions, if I don’t understand something my group/partner says I can ask them to explain it to me again so that I can understand what they’re going to do. I can respond to questions when I know the answer and tell them.
When I was doing the first sketchbook I was able to talk to people if I needed help and also just to communicate with the people I know and to make jokes so that I was able to talk to them more during class and during lunch. I was able to ask the people I know and were comfortable with questions and listen to them explain it back to me so that I would be able to understand the drawing more or the assignment better. I would talk to the people I know preferably the people that were close to me so that I didn’t have to get up and walk to where they were so I usually asked the person closest to me that I was comfortable with questions about the assignment or just random questions.
I figured out what my character looked like because her cousin describes. I chose those plot points because I found them easier to answer. Setting in Story’s can be hard to find but I found the setting of my story because it ended up telling where it was set, but if you can’t figure out the setting you can look for cities and locate the country. Mood means what the characters in the novel / movie are feeling in that moment or how people are feeling if there are multiple people inside the room, I chose that music because it fitted the novel the best since the book was more mysterious and calmer in a way.

An example of where I built upon someone else’s ideas is when I can ask for an idea and slowly change that idea into something more, I usually ask for an idea and then add things to it or take out the things that wouldn’t fit the theme that I’m going for.

Curricular Response
both challenges improved my understanding in the scientific method because i learned how to to identify problems just by using observations. My partner and i for our egg drop challenge device tried to make a box with a parachute so that the egg inside wouldn’t break but because we didn’t cover the egg properly when we dropped the device the egg ended up breaking . these 2 challenges helped me understand the scientific method more because when we were learning about the challenge we learned more about using experiments to test out a hypothesis. The challenges also taught me more about inductive learning and how to observe problems using observation.

Im proud of the egg drop challenge because we both decided on what to do and how we were going to build the device, even though the egg didn’t survive a lot of communication happened between us 2.Using inductive learning to observe problems helped get over some challenges, for example when we realized something we were going to do in our final build wouldn’t work we had to switch that part out and think of something on the spot. I demonstrated that i can create new things when I think about it hard enough or when i take something i’ve already done and then build off of that idea.
