Some work habits that worked well for me this semester in Genocide Studies 12 were reviewing the notes that were handed out in class before i go to sleep, i think reviewing what was handed out in class before you go to sleep helps you remember things better as you go to bed thinking about it and when you wake up in the morning you’re more likely to remember what you reviewed the night before.
One way I can use what I learned in this course to make a positive contribution to others is talking about what i have learned, just talking about what i have learned in class can help spread awareness to the genocides that are happening today and will bring light to the problem. i have learned that even if im not in a position to directly help there are other ways to help, like speaking out and spreading awareness.
If I had to give academic advice to students starting out in Grade 9, I would say to review the notes you get in class whenever you can. Reviewing the notes given out can help your understanding of the class as well as help you remember what you’ve learned for a later test or quiz. Asking for help when you need it is also important, there’s nothing embarrassing about asking for help, if you don’t understand something and leave it for a later time you might still not understand it by the time you have a question surrounding it on a test or quiz, it’s better to ask about the things you don’t understand when you don’t understand them.
In GS12, I use evidence to make judgements or decisions as demonstrated in the graphic organizers done in the class. When we have to do graphic organizers, i am able to read through the given articles and decide what category the article falls in.
A goal i have for myself is to provide examples of where I communicated clearly and purposefully in GS12, i don’t like to speak out in class because i sometimes don’t follow the conversation as easily as i would like to and when it comes down to asking for our opinions i don’t have any, but in the future i would like to try and participate more and to do this i want to start by talking to others first and ask them questions about different things.
