The cost of DIY: Rational Functions

subway sandwich vs making sandwich

for making a sandwich

Bread = $2 Lettuce = $1.25 Tomatoes = $1.30 Cheese = $1.30 Ketchup = $1 Kitchen Knife = $6 cutting board = $20

  1. My Sandwich becomes cheaper when I don’t use Ketchup because my sandwich is worth 6.85 and the Subway sandwich is worth 6.50.
  2. I need to go to the store and get individual items but for Subway I just chose the items. Also my sandwich will be a lot more healthier then the Subway sandwich because it is home made.
  3. If I am tired and having a bad day and i just want to order in a Subway sandwich in the comfort of my own home, or if I am having a fun and energetic day and I am willing to put the time in to get ingredients for my home made sandwich at the Superstore.

  1. I don’t think the time is worth it because going to the Superstore to get a bunch of items and the to come back to make the sandwich is around 1 hour and a half only for a 30 cent difference.
  2. The cost would not change to much this is because it does not take very long to make a sandwich.
  3. Yes, this is because workers make the items you want and if the conditions aren’t well for the workers to work in you will not get your items in good condition or you might not get the item you wanted at all, also because we should prioritize workers over items.

Unit 1 – Radical Equations Menu Task

Questions

  • Which constraints did you choose to complete first, and why? What strategies did you use to tackle the more difficult tasks on the menu? we chose to tackle ABDFG because we saw they had the most things in common.
  • Were there any constraints you struggled to pair together? How did you approach a problem that you initially found confusing or difficult? we had problems with AE but then we realized that A was a part of our first equation so it all worked out
  • Can you describe a moment when you had an “aha” moment while working on a task? our “aha” moment was when we found out A was already in our first equation.
  • Did you find it helpful to have the freedom to choose the order of activities? Why or why not? we found it helpful because it aloud us to explore our learning and equations.
  • Did you work with classmates on any of the activities? How did that collaboration impact your learning? Yes Santi, it impacted because 2 minds or better then 1 so we were able to tackle the questions faster and more efficiently.

Core Competency

I can contribute to and work with criteria to improve my own work; evidence of that is… how this assignment helps my learning because it breaks down the questions into categories and it makes me feel more comfortable doing them.

Core Competency Self-Assessment

Critical and Reflective Thinking

I think it should be more punitive, because if our punishment system is more strict with their sentences i think we will see a decrease in people breaking the law. Mostly because they will think of the punishments to their actions before they act.

“I can analyze evidence to make judgements.” The reason I chose this one is because I feel when I have an idea I can support the idea with good evidence, and maybe even convince other people with my evidence when we are making judgements.

I gained the education because for the first time I was able to see how a real court case was played out, and because when we had our guest speaker he dived in really deeply about being a crown, also with all the questions that gave me even more information about a crowns life. If I could learn more about something or improve on it, I’d probably want to improve on watching more court cases or watching them online because I feel like the court cases had the biggest impact on me.

Goals For Semester one

My Support network includes the following people: Shareef, Caleb, and Joshi will plan to reach out to them when I am struggling in a class or a project or if i need someone to talk to.

Some of my preferred strategies for maintaining a healthy, balanced lifestyle include studying in flex and asking questions to my teacher if I don’t know what to do.

ADL – Financial Literacy

  1. Calculations

3 year stocks

year-1: 80,000 x 1.075=86,000

year-2: 86,000 x 1.075=92,450

year-3: 92,450 x 1.075=99,383.75

savings: 30,000

TOTAL: 99,383.75+30,000= 129,383.75

2. graph

3. the good thing about this is that stocks can give you a lot of money but there is a big risk about losing a lot of money unfortunately I did not put them losing money cause I forgot but you can lose some money from stocks. The reason why I chose stocks for 3 years because I am a person that likes to take risks and this way suited me well.

4.

1 ) I worked with my team really well and we all did a equal amount of work.

2 ) I worked really well with my group, and my group supported my well if I was confused with a question.

3 ) No, because I think we did fine with how we were doing and we did not want to change anything.

4) I think I was a 3, because I worked well with my group but maybe I could have contributed more.

5. Core Competency Reflection

1 ) I can work with others to achieve a goal, because I am a very collaborative person and I work better with a team. I don’t let my team down and I do all of my work.

2 ) I can take on roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share, I always do my share and when I am with another group that does their share we make a very productive team.

3 ) I can ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener. When someone is talking whether it is someone in my group or the teacher I always listen just like how the teacher was showing the Excel I listened.

4 ) I can represent my learning and tell how it connects to my experiences. When I am righting something I can show my what I have learned and how it connects to what I do usually in writing.
