The reason I chose to base my word problem on pizza is because I thought it would be cool to relate my word problem to something most people will have to calculate at some point in their life. Knowing how to calculate the total cost will make it so much easier to order and pay. I was looking at different pizza shops websites and found out that the average cost of a plain cheese pizza was around $10. Each time I added one topping to the plain pizza the price would increase by 75 cents. I chose this photo of pizza because it has multiple toppings on it, and by counting the amount of different toppings you could easily find out the price for that pizza, assuming that the base rate is still $10.
