Curricular Response

I would say my partner’s and I’s prediction was accurate. We considered what we were working with, for example, one experiment had a balloon and the other didn’t, so we had to think about what would probably change because of the balloon. I think viewing the question and looking deeper at what we had to do would’ve given me more clues to have a better prediction.

Critical and Reflective Thinking Skills

BMO Box

I demonstrated my critical and reflective thinking skills during this project with the planning, although the project was to just do a box, I tried to challenge myself, and try to do something that was somewhat challenging. I had to put a lot of details which is where the critical thinking came because I had to estimate a measurement for each detail so it would fit on the box I had made. For reflective thinking skills I had to take a lot of time thinking about how I would make so details, since they were so small, at the end I made the details just how I wanted them to be.

My Artifact

This is a poem I made in English with the theme being Love Poems.

Curricular Competencies Reflection.

What I learned during this assignment was trying to fit in the requirements which took a lot of thinking, and how to use them, for example, I had to have at least 1 metaphor, 1 simile, 1 personification, and 2 senses or more used in the poem. After this assignment, I feel like I improved my writing skills since this was one of my first times writing a poem with those requirements, and I had to redo the poem a few times because the poem wasn’t properly structured.

Core Competencies Reflection.

In discussions and conversations, I help to build and extend understanding by… repeating what the speaker had said in my way and in a less complex way. To help build conversations, I would find more information on the topic that was spoken and get the opinion of my peers.

The ways I communicate at school differ from how I communicate with the family in these ways: I come from a Spanish/English speaking household, when I communicate with my mother I speak to her in Spanish, with my father and brother I communicate with them in English, so my communication will vary, depending on who I’m talking to.

Core Competency Reflection

  1. I feel like what I’m good at is being myself.
  2. I really enjoyed drawing it in general and what made it special for me is that before I’ve had people tell me that when they see a fox they think of me, and I think its because they’re always smiling and making the fox noise that makes them sound like they’re happy all the time.
  3. I’ve had many experiences before that I have learned from to be a better person by learning from my mistakes. My family and heritage have made me learn a lot of stuff that I would say have helped me shape who I am today.
  4. I try to think first before doing something, like for example thinking of the consequences. I sometimes I’m easily influenced by others but not serious things more like if the majority of people want to go to the beach instead of the mall, I would choose what the majority of people want to go to.
  5. I feel like what makes me unique is my personality, I have a very bubbly personality which sometimes I question but still like.

My Project

Public Speaking

I have learned to be more confident in public speaking. Additionally I have learned that I feel less nervous if I’m doing public speaking with someone else rather than by myself. One thing that is really necessary is that I have to make eye contact which for me is kind of hard since I feel awkward doing that so I would just look to a wall or outside which I would try to learn to do differently. One major thing that public speaking helps me learn is improving my English when I speak especially since it is kind of hard to because English is my second language.

When I usually need to boost my mood I tend to take a nap, but sometimes i cant do that because for some reason because then at night I’m not tired so I end up falling asleep late and not sleeping enough hours. Another thing that’s on my way is homework, when I’m stressed I feel exhausted so I cant relax properly, so if I do my homework as soon as I arrive home wont feel stressed for the rest of the day.

Persuasion and Advertising Techniques
