Parabola’s Explained

When creating a function for a parabola there are a lot of factors. Some of the most Important ones are labeled as “a”, “h”, and “k”. “a” can means a couple of different things when it comes to plotting an equation. It tells us is whether the parabola opens up or down as well as telling us if the parabola will be wide or narrow. “h” helps us plot the vertex point on the graph. what ever “h” is you make it the opposite value whether that is positive or negative you flip it then plot it along the “x” line. “k” tells us where the vertex is as well just this time along the “y” line so for example in my equation “k” is -4 so this means that the parabola opens at (-1,-4).

Self Reflection

1. Give an example from this assignment where you represented the same mathematical idea in multiple ways? while explaining how a, h, and k work I said that both h, and k tell us where the vertex is plotted

2. Give an example from this assignment where you used mathematical vocabulary to demonstrate your understanding? In my description of how parabola’s work I used a lot of vocabulary from this chapter such as words like: vertex, function, plotting, a, h, k.

3. Give an example from this assignment where you used formatting to share the information in a clear and organized way? During this assignment I use colors headers and image sizing to help me stay organized and make the project look good.
