Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Making and Sharing Reflection

During this lab, I asked questions for feedback to make sure that I was doing everything correctly. For example, my batter was taking a long time to mix, so I asked Ms. Bolli if I had done anything wrong. She told me to mix it for another 2 minutes, so I did what she told me and it ended up mixing and forming perfectly. I think this recipe is amazing and I am so glad I got to try it, and to add onto the recipe you could add sprinkles, or you could make lemon crinkle cookies, raspberry crinkle cookies, vanilla crinkle cookies, etc with this recipe. You would have to remove and/or change some of the ingredients but it would be very easy to do. I will 100% make these again because they are so delicious and easy to make.

Core Competency Reflection

When I need to work collaboratively with people I don’t know well, I introduce myself, let them introduce themselves to me, and we talk and learn new things about each other. We discuss our roles so that we can complete tasks efficiently and thoroughly.

While working in the kitchen, I help to build and extend understanding by communicating with my peers, asking my teacher questions, reflecting on what I already know, and using critical thinking to think of possibilities and new ways to preform tasks.

If the group is not productive, we can sit down, communicate our problems, and discuss our roles again in order to get things moving in the right direction.

I show that I value feedback from others in my group by asking questions when necessary and discussing ideas when we perform labs so that we can each complete our tasks correctly and efficiently.

If there is disagreement within the group, I find it helpful to… I am still working on this prompt because my groups have not had any disagreements in Food Studies 10, but if I ever have disagreements with groups it is my goal to help settle the disagreement and come up with good compromises so both sides of the argument are satisfied.

Spanish 10 Core Competency Reflection

Collaboration

I can ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener. I communicated my ideas with Rhys and responded to her ideas. She also gave me her opinions on mine.

I can work with others to achieve a goal. Rhys and I worked together by sharing thoughts, ideas, opinions, and working efficiently.

I can take on roles and responsibilities in a group; I do my share. We both communicated our roles and evenly split our work so we could both do even amounts of work.

This photo connects to the core competency “Collaboration” because I collaborated with my friend Rhys by working on a Spanish Conversation for my Spanish 10 class. We communicated what our roles were and how we would evenly divide our work. We shared our ideas and talked about what we could say and what the scenario for our project would be about. This assignment was a very fun experience because I learned how to communicate better in Spanish and use more vocabulary. Spanish 10 was a very good experience this year, and I learned a lot, especially from this project.

Core Competency Self Reflection

I can ask and respond to questions to be an active, supportive listener.

This semester I have demonstrated this prompt by working together with my friend Vittoria, who sits next to me. Whenever we have questions, we ask each other and we build off of each other’s ideas. We know that two minds work better than one, so we work on study notes together and we quiz on the criteria of the test/quiz before we take it. During our most recent lab where we mixed and tested chemicals to determine whether they were an acid/base or neutral, we both did our part and communicated on what our role was and what we should do. This made us complete the lab in an efficient manner, without making any mistakes. The results came back and we both got full marks. Although I have made a lot of great progress throughout the semester, I need to work on paying full attention during class and not getting distracted by my phone and peers.

My Favourite Assignment

I think this is my best work because I was proud of my listening skills and on how I made this poster. It felt very rewarding to create and use my imagination to create a poster that described what I had learned.

My biggest takeaway from CLE was learning about future careers, because I walked into this class on the first day of school with next to no knowledge about career possibilities, and I walked out of class today knowing so much more about what’s out there for me. I now understand the pros and cons of career pathways I was interested in, and I’ve gained new interests along the way. Overall, I loved this class and I can’t wait to learn more about career pathways in the future.

I can find it easy to be part of a group.

Careers Project Interview

Reflection

Brian Lamb, a real estate agent, did my interview, and I also interviewed my mom. Brian Lamb is a manager in his real estate office, and he has one of the highest positions in his company, and my mom was a sales rep for Yellow Pages. What I found interesting is that real estate agents are their own boss, and they choose how much they make, and what I found interesting about sales representatives is that they are usually on the go meeting new people and it is a fun but hard job. My best question was “Describe the average day as a realtor/ sales representative.” What surprised me is that you only need high school and college to head into this field, and that there are few requirements for the two jobs. What disappointed me is that in real estate you must work odd and long hours, usually 7 days a week.

I feel okay about the two careers, but I am leaning more towards real estate. I am still not sure if I even want to pursue a career in the business/financial field, as there are so many opportunities out there and I need more time to think about what I want.

Positive Social Media

Positive Social Media Posts

Reflection

I think positive social media posts are very important because your digital footprint reflects on you in the future and whatever negative thing you post will always be out there. Posting positive things not only make you seem like a kind person, they also reflect well on you when you apply to university. If there are images or videos of you participating in illegal activities, or if your posting things that are disrespectful to groups or people, than this can really decrease your chances of being accepted into colleges, universities, and even jobs and careers. This is why you should only post things that are positive and ideal, and don’t overshare.

Core Competency Reflection

I can inquire into and present on topics of interest and topics related to my studies.

I can understand and share information about a topic of interest in a clear, organized way.

I can represent my learning and tell how it connects to my experiences.

I can make choices that keep me safe in my community and online.

I can understand that my identity is made of many interconnected elements. I chose this one because my identity is important and I learned to make sure that my identity online is always positive.

I can identify how my actions affect the community or environment and I can make positive change. I chose this one because posting positive things will create a positive environment online and reflect well on myself and my community.

An example of an idea I developed that was new to my peers is creating a realistic looking fake instagram post, reel, and story.

I can analyze evidence to make judgements. I chose this prompt because this has helped me realize the importance of your digital footprint after seeing people post negative and inappropriate things online.

I can ask open-ended questions to gather information. I chose this prompt as a goal I’m working towards because asking open-ended questions will help me much more gather information than asking straight forward questions. I will work towards this goal by asking myself what I specifically am curious about.
