A titration is a lab technique used to determine the concentration of a substance in a solution. In this lab, we used titrations to find out how much base was needed to neutralize an acid, which was HCl in our lab. To do this, we added a few drops of phenolphthalein, to the acid. The goal was to reach a very light pink colour, that shows for about 30 seconds. We knew the endpoint was close then the pink colour started to last longer. This Is when we started to use the technique of single and half drops, leading us with a more accurate result. After getting a good titration we calculated the Molarity of HCl, which was 0.136M, with an uncertainty of 0.7%.
Core Competency Reflection
I demonstrated communication skills with my partner throughout Lab 20c. We worked together to decide which step each of us would take, and we also discussed where we needed help from one another. A great example I can think of is, when it came to getting the pipette accuracy just right, we agreed that I should do that part of the lab, since I found it easier. While my partner was better at achieving accuracy when it came to the single and half drops. Because of our clear communication, we were able to complete two titrations with an average difference of only 0.01%. Another example, was when determining whether the titration had reached the correct colour. It was really enjoyable watching the bright pink colour change into a faint pink. We both felt a sense of accomplishment when the titration reached the perfect faint pink. Communication was a big factor with each other, that made this lab achievable and accurate.
During our visit to Rochester Elementary School in the middle of the semester, we had a wonderful opportunity to engage with the children. We spent time reading to them and teaching them how to jump rope. Interacting with kindergarteners required a delicate balance of patience and enthusiasm, as well as calm tone of voice. I adapted my language and gestures accordingly to effectively connect with the children during our visit.

Prompt 2- Strep throat video
For a class project, we had to create an informational video about an infection/disease, and my group picked strep throat. While working on this video, I believe we demonstrated excellent collaboration skills, with everyone contributing equally to get it done. Whenever we faced challenges or got stuck, we all pitched in to support each other. Working on this project was not just about being productive; we also had a lot of fun and shared some good laughs. These experiences helped me realize the difference between simple “group work” and true collaboration.

When I am sad, angry or frustrated, doing… helps me be more productive or calm.
Looking after my real care baby brought out a range of emotions in me: stress, joy, laughter, frustration, and exhaustion. Whenever I felt angry or frustrated, taking a moment to refocus and remember that it’s just an assignment helped me be more productive and calm. I definitely believe that the opportunity to care for the real care baby was valuable, even though it came with a hand full of stress. It taught me a lot, and it’s eye-opening to think about how much mothers manage every single day.
For this project, our group had to work together to create a presentation about a character from Thomas King’s book “Green Grass Running Water.” We were given the character Latisha, who had both advantages and disadvantages. I learned a lot about indigenous perspectives and even the treatment of women at times from reading only about Latisha. I thought that I spoke pretty clearly and, for the most part, confidently when I was delivering the power point. The presentations, in my opinion, was really successful in making our points very evident.
During project preparation, I noticed that the group worked effectively together. To make things fair, we all collaborated and divided the presentation into equal parts. We would all contribute to making the presentation the best it could be.
For this assignment, we had to pick a song and describe three different psychological perspectives that the music focuses on. I chose the song “In my Blood” by Shawn Mendes. We got given a list of psychological perspectives to choose from, I analyzed the evidence to make judgments and connections between which perspectives related to the meaning behind the lyrics.
I can reflect on my thinking.
Making this mind map, I used a lot of creative thinking, I made connections from the lyrics and psychological perspectives. While reading and listening to the lyrics, I gave careful thought to my thoughts in an attempt to comprehend the singer’s experiences.
I can form new ideas to create new things. I can also build on the ideas of others.
Choosing a song that talks about dealing with a psychological disorder was a bit difficult. After some thought I chose the song in my Blood. I built off the idea that the lyrics talk about the struggles with anxiety. I made connections and went more in depth about how dealing with anxiety can look like.

For this research assignment I chose this core competency because I feel it reflects me well. During this assignment, some of difficulties that I had were to find the right information that matches the criteria but also ensure the viewer of the poster is interested in all the information. I sometimes spend too much time and overthink the layout of my work, however I know I have lots of ideas and will use this to develop my work as I persevere and don’t give up.
I appreciate feedback on my work during and after I have handed in assignments. Feedback helps me to develop and receive a higher grade the next time. When I don’t perform my best on a project, I often find it difficult to accept critique, but in the end, it improves my work moving forward. Feedback also boosts motivation and confidence because it lets you know when you’re on the right track
I believe we found a fair solution, however, there are certain advantages and disadvantages to it While using stocks, you have the option of increasing your financial gain or incurring a loss. In our answer, we demonstrated what would happen if the stocks performed as expected for three years without any issues, as well as the one year within the three-year plan when you would not profit from the stocks. After purchasing their ideal home, the investors would have approximately $1,000 extra if the stock investment performed well for three years. Investors are loosing $5000 if the stock strategy does not work out as expected. I still believe stocks are the better and more effective alternative when needing financial assistance in this situation, depending on your level of trust and investment.

A) How did you find working with your group?
I found working in a group made this project a lot easier. At first me and my partner didn’t know what to do but eventually we figured it out together.
B) How did you contribute to the group? And how did others in the group contribute to your learning
I think me and my partner contributed to everything together I think i helped more with the writing and blog. Other wise when I struggled on the math problem she would help me. When she struggled with the blog and translating I helped.
C) Did you use any other the solutions proposed by your group? Why or why not?
Yes, in the beginning we were confused on how to do the assignment, my partner suggested we try out both solutions to the answer and it gave us a better understanding on how to do the work.
D) How would you rate your ability to collaborate with others in your group on a scale of 1-4 (1 not good; 4- excellent)
I think my collaboration skills would be a 4. It was a little hared to do this assignment because my partner doesn’t speak much English, but we still managed to work together really well.

I was away sick when this project was introduced. I didn’t understand what we had to do and that caused me stress. when I need to re focus I take a five minute break and try to get back into the work.

I struggled to understand how the stock market math worked before speaking up for myself and asking for help.

Some of the ways I work to build and maintain relationships are communication. When your on the same page as people your relationship is better and even fun. As well as helping others because you can both learn and help each other.
An example of something I have spent a lot of time learning about is Trigonometry. At first it was a little difficult to understand the concept of it but that more we learnt it the easier trig got.
Example of where I have communicated clearly and purposefully can be seen in group or partner work. I work a lot with my friend at my desk and we communicate a lot which makes the class a lot easier.
Film class involves a lot of partner or group work, which means one must communicate with others. For my core competency I chose Communication. The three projects I have finished this far involved a lot of communication because a project is better off with more ideas as well as its a lot easier if your on the same path as your partner.
I really enjoyed film class this semester, what made the class a lot easier and enjoyable was having my friends in the class and working together.
We all communicated nicely with one another as a group. We all worked together to complete the project. We discussed the material we wished to research in our communication. We had to research and discuss the energy source of our choosing for the project; our group settled on wind energy. Each of us selected the subject under which we wished to find the material, and we also helped one another when we ran into problems. We all collaborated on the project, which made it much easier for me.

This is the outline of out project, after a lot more information and color it looked a lot better. We all did study on wind energy and learnt a lot about I learned that wind energy is very helpful in day to day life. Even though we didn’t have to present the project it was very nice working in a group with those people, everybody took part and it looked great.
